00:00the chibi news daily reflection hi I'm Jordan and I'm a vicar in the Church of England this
00:10week we've been exploring the parable of the prodigal son Jesus tells us a story of a father
00:17with two sons the younger one takes the inheritance and squanders it all and returns destitute asking
00:24for forgiveness the older is diligent and works really hard for his father the older is offended
00:32that the father forgave and celebrated the younger brother so the father comes out to plead with his
00:38older son to engage in the party he's thrown for his younger brother Jesus tells us the oldest son
00:44replies look all these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your royal orders yet you
00:51never gave me even a young goat to celebrate with my friends the son is so angry at his father but
00:59he misunderstands who his father is and what he's like the son worked for his father but never really
01:05got to know his father's heart the father replies my son you are always with me everything I have is
01:13yours as Christians we believe God is like this extravagant father and by this Jesus suggests
01:21that sometimes we can assume negative things about people because we don't really know
01:26them but by engaging in real relationship we might begin to see otherwise
