00:10mack a super religious man and jesus christ had a conversation this man was nicodemus a pharisee
00:17equivalent to a very high ranking morally upright church leader today if there was anyone who was
00:24worthy to enter heaven it would be this man nicodemus failed to grasp jesus's true identity
00:33and greeted him as a fellow peer jesus got straight to the heart of nicodemus's greatest need jesus
00:41didn't say to him congratulations brother you are on the right path now all you need is to try a little
00:48harder to be better and have a bit more religion jesus didn't say that what he did say was utterly
00:55shocking no one can see or enter the kingdom of god unless they are born again which meant that
01:02nicodemus's good moral living and religiosity counted for nothing and contributed nothing to his salvation
01:11he needed the very life of god living in him to make a difference jesus didn't come
01:18to make good people a little better or to make bad people good he came to give spiritually dead people
01:24life the very life of god god does this through the third person of the trinity the holy spirit
01:31who spiritually regenerates people with god's life when this miracle happens a person becomes a new
01:39creation moving from merely existing and going for the motions of life to experiencing life with divine
