In today’s Daily Reflection, we explore the life and legacy of John the Baptist — a fiery prophet who called people to prepare their hearts for Jesus, not just through actions but through true inner transformation. His challenge still stands today: if Jesus were to return now, would we be ready, or is it time for a change of heart?Watch todays Daily Reflection above

00:00Hello my name is Jonny Dade and I'm a vicar in the Church of England.
00:11Today is the day when Christians celebrate the life and legacy of John the Baptist.
00:19John the Baptist was Jesus' cousin, born miraculously and given a radical vocation.
00:30To prepare the way to Jesus' coming, to get people ready.
00:38He was dressed in camel's hair, ate a diet of locusts and honey and
00:43John was a wild and fiery prophet, not afraid to speak truth to power.
00:52And he called the nation to get its house in order.
00:57I don't know if you've seen the comical t-shirts,
01:01Jesus is coming, look busy.
01:04Well, John's message was kind of that, except his concern was the state of people's hearts,
01:13not merely their outward actions.
01:17I've often reflected on that challenge.
01:20In Christian belief, Jesus is coming again for a second time.
01:26I wonder what he'll find when he returns.
01:32In what state will he find the world, our nation, his church, me?
01:40It's the scouts who have the motto, be prepared, isn't it?
01:48In the Bible, the word repent that John uses literally means to have a change of mind.
01:55It's about whole life transformation.
02:00And that's the challenge of John the Baptist.
02:03Are we prepared?
02:04Are we prepared?
02:05Or might we need to change?
