00:00So as ever, there is loads on and loads to do in the city of Bristol, from theatre to film, food to drink.
00:09So let us start with something very exciting that has been anticipated for a while, the release of Grommet Unleashed 3.
00:17And lots of these grommets and characters have popped up around the city, haven't they? Tell me a little bit about that.
00:22Yes, well, the very anticipated Grommet Unleashed 3 has officially launched in Bristol with 53 different sculptures featuring the iconic duo Wallace and Grommet, the infamous Feather McGraw, the newest character to the cast, Norbot, and even Shaun the Sheep.
00:42The designs have been painted both by some very famous studios like Pixar, Admin, Dreamworks, and among also some local artists.
00:57Oh, thank you. That is a very exciting one, especially for Bristolians, as obviously we know that Wallace and Grommet is very close to our hearts.
01:05So should we move on to another very exciting thing? Although June's Pride Month is over, Bristol Pride is still to come, and it is something that we are all very excited for, and this year it's on Durden Downs.
01:21Tell me a little bit about what we can expect from Pride Day in Bristol.
01:24Yes, well, the celebrations actually last for about a week until the 13th of July, and the biggest peak is the annual parade, which will start as a walking parade, and we'll finish with live music at the Downs.
01:42And this year we can expect a stellar lineup, including Kim Wilde, among other headliners like Cascada, Ultronate, and Brooke Lynn White.
01:52Oh, that is an exciting one. And Bristol always comes out in full force to support LGBTQ plus rights, and it's going to be another brilliant lineup, and hopefully the weather will hold for it again this year.
02:07So let's move on to Bristol's maritime history. A lot of people really enjoy learning about our rich history, and there are walks you can go on now to learn more. Tell me a little bit about that.
02:21Yeah, well, for those who enjoy the maritime history, as well as learn about the transatlantic slavery history of Bristol, there's a walk that's been launched around the city exploring its history,
02:39and the global connections the city has built on the centuries of maritime trade.
02:45The Newark will also explore its 18th century transatlantic slave trade and its everlasting impact, including one of its most controversial figures, Edward Colston.
