00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03Derbyshire is getting significantly more money to help with pothole repairs and pay for some larger road projects,
00:09but it now faces the reality of its lack of ability and capacity to carry out the work.
00:15A very real danger posed by the major increase in budget for Derbyshire County Council road repairs and projects
00:20is that schemes cannot be delivered on time and so actually risk losing funding.
00:25The authority details this in the report to be discussed by the Reform Cabinet,
00:28in which it explains that it will have to lean even more significantly on private contractors and companies
00:34to help deliver road projects due to the rapid surge in spending.
00:38The council says it now wants to create a formal construction partnership with a large number of private companies
00:43to help it deliver its growing caseload, which it says will take between one to two years to procure and commission.
00:52A much-loved resident of a Chesterfield care home has celebrated her 103rd birthday
00:57with party games, balloons and a cake.
01:00Olive Adam has lived at Elm Lodge on Stand Road in Chesterfield for two years
01:04where her sharp sense of humour brings laughter to both residents and staff.
01:08Sina French who works at the home said,
01:10All the staff love her. She's absolutely amazing.
01:13I asked her if she enjoyed her birthday and she said,
01:16I've loved every minute of it. I don't feel like 103. I feel like a big kid.
