A Derbyshire couple has been hit with a £3,000 fine for a noise nuisance caused by their barking dogs.

Bolsover District Council successfully prosecuted the couple of Mansfield Road in Glapwell

for breaching a noise abatement notice which disturbed residents' peace and enjoyment of their homes.

The council received a noise complaint regarding barking dogs in October 2023

and after investigation found that multiple dogs were left to bark for extensive periods.

The couple were issued with an abatement notice giving them 21 days to comply.

However the noise nuisance continued and the defendants breached the notice.

Barking comes naturally to dogs but the owners had the opportunity to deal with the situation and failed to do so

so we took action.

The noise caused by these dogs caused a great lived disruption and distress to the local residents and the neighbourhood.

It simply was not fair.

This is a clear message we want to send to people that dog owners must take responsibility for their pets

New lighting and a partial re-roofing are proposed for Chesterfield Market Hall

under planning application submitted to the Borough Council.

The council is applying for listed building consent from its planning department to replace façade lights

in line with current standards and install additional complementary heritage lighting.

An application submitted by Ben Mitchell on behalf of the council

stated there had been various public consultations and engagement sessions with market traders,

residents and businesses about wider town centre improvements.
