00:03A project to create a state-of-the-art teaching centre at Chesterfield College is now underway,

00:09with the work on the development set to be completed next year.

00:12Chesterfield College welcomed employees and dignitaries from across the local community

00:16to sign the steels of its new Advanced Manufacturing and Life Sciences building development on Infirmary Road.

00:23Chesterfield College Principal and CEO Julie Richards OBE said,

00:27Concentrating on the latest industry skills and technology, with a real focus on vitally important green skills,

00:33the facility has been curated in consultation with local employers

00:37to ensure it produces a skilled workforce to supply local demand for years to come.

00:42This build is one of multiple and significant investments we are making to our campus,

00:47as a result of us successfully securing investment from the Government's Further Education Capital Transformation Fund.

00:54Work has commenced on a new commercial zone, featuring new hairdressing, beauty therapy and massage facilities

01:00which will be open to the public, alongside our already popular training restaurant, Taste.

01:07Derbyshire County Council has confirmed plans to temporarily remove road restrictions on Matlock Bath over the Easter weekend,

01:14in a bid to ease congestion caused by ongoing road repairs on the busy route.

01:19The County Council is carrying out work on a stretch of retaining wall along the A6,

01:24but the original five-week project timetable has slipped due to unanticipated structural damage.

01:29It means that temporary traffic lights and lane barriers will remain in place for the foreseeable future,

01:34the current completion target is May 20th,

01:37despite queues of 30 minutes or more building up around the bottleneck at peak travel times.

01:42Matlock Bath traditionally welcomes many visitors in the spring and summer,

01:46making the Easter bank holidays extra important for local businesses,

01:50and so the County Council has now agreed to ease the traffic flow for four days between April 18th and 21st.
