Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03
35% of drivers on a notorious stretch of Derbyshire Road passing through a quiet village
00:08
are clocked at an excess of 80 miles per hour by handheld radars, according to a road safety group.
00:14
Some of the motorists reach unbelievably high speeds of between 100 and 130 miles per hour in Kelstidge at Ashover.
00:21
Ashover Community Speedwatch, councillors and North East Derbyshire MP Louise Jones
00:26
were joined by Bill Biak from South Shields, whose wife and son died in a horrific crash on the dangerous roads,
00:32
to take a survey of the ongoing issue.
00:34
A Speedwatch spokesperson said,
00:36
It's amazing so many people are passionate about making a positive difference,
00:40
ensuring that all road users and pedestrians are kept safe and well,
00:43
with a prime focus to reduce the devastation and carnage experienced on this stretch of highway.
00:48
The Community Speedwatch team and Derbyshire Constabulary can only do so much
00:53
and are limited in the amount of time which can be spent roadside to have an effect.
00:57
The permanent answer, which we are campaigning for,
01:00
is both fixed and variable speed cameras to be installed across the parish.
01:06
More than 1,000 people have stepped out in support of Breast Cancer Now's Pink Ribbon Walk at Chatsworth House.
01:12
The event, which raises money for breast cancer research and support,
01:16
took place on one of the hottest days of the year,
01:18
when participants walked either 10 or 20 miles.
01:20
This year's walkers at Chatsworth,
01:23
together with those who signed up to Pink Ribbon Walk's events at Hampton Court Palace,
01:27
Blennan Palace and Creef Heider in Scotland,
01:30
have raised altogether £1.1 million.
