00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning which is fine for most
00:05but showery rain coming in from the Atlantic. In fact across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:09you're under the influence of an Atlantic air mass and that means stronger winds from
00:14time to time, showers and then more persistent rain as we head through to Friday. A ridge
00:18of high pressure extends across much of England and Wales. We've lost a lot of the intense
00:22heat that's moved down towards more central and southern parts of Europe. But notice the
00:27winds on Friday across the North West they will pick up some strength. That rain will
00:32be persistent so some high rainfall totals particularly across the Highlands as well
00:36as the islands. And in fact this morning you're seeing some showery bursts extending
00:40across western and central parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Brighter skies
00:43across eastern Scotland, the bulk of England and Wales. A pleasant start to the
00:47day, a little fresher than what you're used to relative to the beginning of the
00:52week but certainly some lovely sunshine through the first part of the morning.
00:55Now through the day we watch as this showery rain and also some strong winds extends from
01:02western Scotland, the north and the west of Northern Ireland and pushes ever eastwards
01:06and south eastwards. It does mean for the bulk of England and Wales you may find the
01:11cloud building through the middle part of the day. There's a small chance of a shower
01:14but most places will be dry and warm in that sun. But that showery rain does move
01:19across towards more eastern areas where it would be fairly sporadic but you could catch a
01:23heavier shower and moves down also towards the Isle of Man, perhaps one or two showers
01:28just clipping the far north and northwest of Wales.
01:30Now in the sunshine temperatures across mid Wales 23 Celsius, 26 for the home counties, 18
01:36or 19 for the central belt of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and that wind will continue
01:42through the afternoon particularly across the north as well as the west of Scotland.
01:45Showers continue into this evening away from more central and southern parts of England and Wales
01:51and then this spillement of rain just pushes across western Scotland through the night. So again some
01:56wet weather to come here. It turns milder across Northern Ireland overnight and mostly dry and drier
02:02further south with some starry skies and some sunshine to start the day. But look at this rain on Friday,
02:07it's going to be persistent. Some high rainfall totals accompanied with a strong wind and that wet weather
02:12does just push down across Northern Ireland, patchy across the far south of Northern Ireland,
02:17the far south of Scotland but more cloud. Temperatures then probably 18 or 19 across Scotland
02:22and Northern Ireland but up a notch across England and Wales probably 23 to 27 degrees Celsius
02:28feeling warm in that sunshine. Remember UV levels will be high if you catch any brighter moments.
02:34Now on Friday evening and overnight all of this cloud and rain will gradually track southwards
02:40so an increasing amount of cloud. The winds will also pick up a little strength across England
02:45and Wales leading to a cloudier day all round in the south. Showery rain continues in the north
02:49particularly towards the west. There will be some broken clouds allowing for some bright skies
02:53at the same time. Showery rain never too far away as temperatures arrive around 23, 24 across England
02:59and Wales. 18 to 21 for Scotland and Northern Ireland so some warmth in the air particularly
03:04if you catch any brighter interludes in shelter but it will be a breezy day wherever you are.
03:09Now for the 10 day trend this week it's with Aidan McGiven. Check it out on our YouTube channel.
03:15I'll see you later.
