There is a yellow thunderstorm warning in place for eastern parts of Scotland and northern England for heavy thundery showers which are drifting their way eastwards. In the far southeast, areas such as Kent and Sussex could also see some heavy showers through the morning and into the afternoon. There will be scattered showers also for parts of northwest Scotland and Northern Ireland. For many though, it should be a bright and dry afternoon. Feeling noticeably fresher than recent days - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the afternoon of 02/07/2025. Bringing you today’s forecast is Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good afternoon. After reaching 34.7 degrees Celsius yesterday, the heat has
00:06finally come to an end. But for some, that means we're also saying goodbye to the sunshine.
00:10And this morning, the Met Office have issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for eastern
00:14parts of Scotland, northeastern parts of England, where we are expecting some heavy, thundery
00:19showers drifting their way eastwards. And not only this, but for a time, we could see
00:23some showers across the far southeast too, but these largely easing away by the afternoon.
00:28Still the odd shower or two creeping into western Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland.
00:32But for many, it is set to be a dry and bright afternoon. Plenty of sunny spells and still
00:37feeling warm in the sunshine. Highs reaching around 26 degrees Celsius, a little fresher
00:42across the north. Temperatures reaching the mid to high teens here. But it's not going
00:46to feel quite as muggy or quite as uncomfortable either. And that remains the same as we head
00:51through the evening and overnight. Once again, remaining mostly dry. Any showers towards the
00:56northeast clearing their way into the North Sea. But we will eventually start to see more
01:00clouds. Some showery outbreaks just start to click their way into western Scotland, parts
01:05of Northern Ireland. But for most, it should be largely dry, mostly clear and feeling a lot
01:10fresher too. Lows reaching around 8 to 9 degrees Celsius.
01:14Heading into Thursday, once again, mostly settled conditions across the south. Plenty of sunny spells
01:19to go around and fairly similar temperatures. Though once again, across the northwest, it is a very
01:24different story. More cloud, plenty of showery outbreaks. At times, these could be quite heavy
01:29and blustery. Once again, you may even hear the odd rumble of thunder. So it's a real good north-south
01:34split in the weather as we head our way into Thursday. Still, once again, that fresher feeling air
01:39across the far north, particularly in the stronger breeze. But across the south, once again, highs reaching
01:44around 26 degrees Celsius in the London area, but for many temperatures in the mid to low 20s. So
01:49feeling fresher, but still warm in that sunshine. Into the evening, we'll see a continuation of that
01:56weather. The cloud, the showers spreading their way eastwards across the north, but remaining
02:00mostly dry in the south. And we pretty much remain in that north-south setup as we head into Friday. But a
02:07very different feel in the weather as we head towards the weekend. But for more information on that,
02:12you can catch Aidan later on YouTube. Bye-bye.
