00:01Spend money on retro junk. Should I?
00:04That's always the question that comes up when I see something like this in the store.
00:09It's the Titan Pixel 8 Retro Portable Game Station.
00:14As you can see, this time I did cave-in eventually.
00:17On the second time I saw it in the store.
00:20And I finally bought it, so let's have a look at it.
00:23You probably saw it too and you thought, well, that's far too expensive.
00:27And indeed it is, but do you want it or not?
00:31Look at that.
00:32See how they got the look just right with the golden paper on the front and the maroon plastic.
00:38Ah, what games are on it?
00:40Maybe there wasn't a demo model you could play with.
00:43Maybe you just saw it in the box and you wondered, what are these 520 built-in games on it?
00:49Let's have a look at it.
00:51First, I'm just going to suggest if you buy one,
00:53it is best that you actually do open it and look at it.
00:58Because sometimes this golden paper is stuck on so roughly.
01:03You see, even this one, the holes that the buttons must go through,
01:08aren't that completely well lined up.
01:11You can see there.
01:12You see, it's not perfect, but this is actually the third one I tried in the store.
01:16And then I said, okay, yeah, I'm just going to take it now because it's the best one.
01:20The others were completely, uh, what, what's the word for it now?
01:24Not lined up.
01:25The holes weren't lined up with the buttons.
01:27The buttons were like touching the edge.
01:30You see that start button and the select button.
01:32They're not completely centered in the holes that were cut out for them.
01:37But anyway, yeah, here's the unit.
01:41Here's your screen.
01:42A bit dusty.
01:43Uh, this is just a tape.
01:45I still need to peel it off, but I don't think I'm going to.
01:48I want to protect it from scratches.
01:50This is where you turn it on.
01:52And it turns on.
01:54Here's your volume.
01:56You can turn it up a bit and down a bit.
01:59Uh, here's where the battery goes in.
02:01It is a rechargeable battery.
02:04See?
02:05So it's not those batteries that you might have thought goes into these units.
02:10So you start it up and you see there.
02:12There's 40 in one.
02:13It says Anbernik.
02:1540 in one and 480 in one.
02:19So you're going to select with this which one you want.
02:23I'll show you the game names that are on it.
02:25First you select English.
02:27Let me just turn up the volume.
02:29It doesn't turn up that much, but, uh, yeah, it's alright.
02:32You select with the start button.
02:35English.
02:36And there are the games.
02:38Superboy.
02:39Superboy is just a different version of Super Mario.
02:42Adventure Island, you probably know.
02:44Tank.
02:45Alright, I'll just show them on screen.
02:47There's the list.
02:48The first 7.
02:49There's from 8 to 14.
02:51There's from 15 to 21.
02:55There's from 22 to 28.
02:5929 to 35.
03:01And 36 to 40.
03:04Yeah, that's the first 40.
03:06Now I don't see a reset button on this anywhere.
03:10Ah, that's where you charge it, by the way.
03:13There's the USB-C type.
03:16DC 5 volts.
03:18And TV out.
03:19Yes, the cable is in the box.
03:20I'll show it to you now.
03:22First, let's reset it by turning it off and turning it on.
03:27And this time I'm gonna select the 418 one, so you can just see the games on it, in case
03:32you were wondering.
03:33Okay, select English.
03:35There's 1 to 7.
03:38There's 8 to 14.
03:40You can pause the video if you want to read them all.
03:4315 to 21.
03:4522 to 28.
03:48There's Ms. Pac-Man.
03:5029 to 35.
03:5336 to 42.
03:5643 to 49.
03:5858 to 56.
04:00Okay, I'm just gonna flash them across the screen.
04:03I see there's a lot of them now.
04:05We see them there.

05:04182.
05:05255.
05:06252.

05:36385.
05:37392.
05:38399.
05:39400 to 406.
05:40413.
05:41420.
05:42427.
05:43434.
05:44441.
05:45448.
05:46455.
05:47462.
05:48469.
05:49476.
05:50And there it is up to 480.
06:06All righty, I don't believe I saw any repeats there.
06:11Sometimes they say there's like a thousand games on these Chinese consoles.
06:16But then it's actually just like 16 or 20 or so.
06:19And they just have duplicates of them in the list.
06:22But fortunately it seems this is actually 520 games.
06:27What I did notice is actually some games.
06:30I don't know how many of those there are.
06:32I can't find it now, but it's like it says something like fish.
06:37Oh, maybe it's this fish.
06:38See it says there 436 is fish.
06:41And when I click start, or oh no, I mustn't click start.
06:44I must click B.
06:47B?
06:49Okay, no, this is not what I thought it is.
06:52But I know there is one that says something like fish.
06:54I don't know what it says.
06:55Maybe sea or ocean.
06:57And then when you click on it, it actually gives you about 8 more games.
07:02Or 4 more games.
07:03Then it's all Little Mermaid themed.
07:06So there's actually a little bit more than 520 games on this unit.
07:11So now you know which games are on here.
07:13We'll have a look at some of them in just a bit.
07:16Let's just go through this.
07:18There's your little, what is this, user manual.
07:22For some reason it pages the wrong way around.
07:25But anyway, what else is there?
07:28Oh, thank you.
07:29And installation, accessories, AV cable, USB cable, charging installation, battery note,
07:40video output connected to TV, volume control function, care and maintenance here.
07:47Lots of stuff here.
07:48You can read, problem solving.
07:51But I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to figure out without the manual.
07:55There in the box, there was a USB cable in here.
08:00I took it out meanwhile.
08:02And there's the cable that you connect it to a TV with.
08:05If you have a TV that has these connection plugs or jacks or whatever you call it.
08:11No, not jacks.
08:12Plugs where you can plug these in.
08:14One is for the video and one is for the audio.
08:17And then the other end of course plugs in.
08:20Here at the top of the unit.
08:22TV out it says.
08:24Plug it in there.
08:26And these must go into your TV or VCR or whatever you have that can transfer the signal to your TV.
08:34But we're not gonna do that now.
08:36What do I think of this?
08:37Yeah, if you like the games.
08:39These old 80s and 90s games.
08:42It's nice to have them now in a pocket version.
08:45I put it next to my bed at the moment.
08:47And sometimes before I take a nap I'll play for about 10 minutes or so.
08:52Is there something I don't like about it?
08:54Well, yeah.
08:55I don't know if it's just on this unit because the speaker is so small.
08:59But it sounds to me like on the game music.
09:02It sounds like the bass line is not playing.
09:05The bass line of the tune.
09:06I don't know.
09:07Maybe they thought there's not enough memory to have that.
09:10Or maybe it's just a small speaker that the bass doesn't go through on.
09:14I don't know.
09:15But that's what it sounds like to me.
09:17Alrighty.
09:18Well, that's a unit thing.
09:19Let's play something for now.
09:21I think let's play a little bit of Adventure Island.
09:26That's an old classic.
09:27That was just about on each and every unit.
09:31Game unit of the time.
09:37Also you'll see, you see it looks like there's a bit of a stripe there.
09:41But that move, that stripe moves depending on what's on the screen.
09:47So I don't know how that works.
09:50See when there's a lot of motion on the screen.
09:53It looks like there's a bit of a line.
09:55Oh, now I missed the skateboard.
10:02Let's see on this 4.18.1 section.
10:05I wanted to see that Harry Potter game.
10:08Oh, back to the future.
10:13Sounds like it might be interesting.
10:16Shall we have a quick look at that?
10:22Interesting.
10:27Hill Valley.
10:29I just want to see what we're supposed to do here.
10:34Oh, walk around and now what must I do?
10:36Looks like I'm already dead but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing here.
10:44Oh, get the alarm clocks or something.
10:47Yeah.
10:48Alright, we'll figure that out at some point.
10:51Yeah, okay, Super Mario.
10:52Super Mario, you know what that is of course.
11:02Okay, that didn't take long.
11:05There's Ms. Pac-Man.
11:07Let's just have a quick look at that.
11:18Oh, it scrolls so it fits on the screen.
11:21There are a few lines for now.
11:22But let's try.
11:23Here I go, too.
11:24And then we have a screen.
11:25Yeah, here we go.
11:26Oh, the one is going to the tree.
11:27Wait, wait.
11:28What is the tree?
11:29What's the tree?
11:30There's a tree?
11:31There, there's a tree.
11:32There's a tree.
11:34Oh, the tree.
11:35There's a tree.
11:36It's just a tree.
11:37There's a tree.
11:38And there's a tree.
11:40It's a tree.
11:41It's just a tree.
11:42It's just a tree.
11:43There's a tree gathering.
11:44all righty let me just see if I can find that Harry Potter one oh there's Batman
11:58there's Harry Potter 85 weird music I'm supposed to be shooting things I'm
12:18flying on a broom okay this is weird music and he's dead I suppose that's
12:30Hogwarts supposed to be or oh no it's not because there's like towers everywhere
12:36yeah all right I'm sure this game is gonna be interesting once you get to know
12:41what it you know what to do let's just see what else here is known to us you see
12:51this Superboy it has completely different music but the same sounds as Super Mario
12:59if I can just play it for a little bit longer
13:03you know you see even the same ideas you grow when you eat those things
13:17all right interesting there's Donkey Kong
13:33I'm sure you know it walk up there and you must jump over the drums that the
13:49gorilla keeps rolling down and I'm dead already all righty and yeah that's
13:59basically the what was this called Titan pixel 8 retro portable game station it's
14:04kind of all the old familiar games that you used to play in the 80s and 90s in a
14:09nice little pocket version already now hit the like button subscribe if you're
14:15not subscribed yet and we'll talk about more stuff in the next video I'll play a
14:20game or two more circus Charlie of course always was part of the collection
14:27back in back in the days
14:35you hear there's not really a baseline there so I hope it's just because the
14:41speaker is really small and not because they just didn't include it in the
14:46programming or coding or whatever maybe they wanted to save on the memories who
14:52usage so that it works on a little device like this I don't know maybe I should
14:57just plug it into a big sound system at some point and listen to it
15:04you
15:09you
15:11you
