Transcript
00:00Several months ago I bought a sound system for my television setup. Wasn't
00:05some high quality surround sound or something like that. Just a 2.1 channel
00:11as they are known, 2.1 channel system, woofer with two speakers. But the problem
00:17with that one is the bass on it was insane. Now I know that probably sounds
00:22good to you because people are like yeah the bass must be insane. Well that one
00:27is a bit too much and what's worse there's no way to turn it down. It has
00:32this insane bass like like drums that would sound like or actually not even
00:38drums, bass. Normal bass notes sound like drums on it and not only drums more like
00:46it literally like shakes the speakers and the shelves and well the whole
00:53television and the whole room really. And sometimes it distorts the bass is so
00:58loud on it when the when the other sounds aren't even that loud. So I'm afraid I
01:03just waited too long. Yeah I probably cannot take it back to the store now. I
01:08don't think they would take it back. So instead I thought I would just try out
01:12something else, another system. And that's why I got this one. It's the AIM
01:18Platinum Series 2.1 Channel Multimedia Speaker. It says there. So today I
01:25thought we would unbox this. You can see the box hasn't even been opened yet. Will
01:30it be good? I don't know. But I am gonna try it. Looks alright. I had a similar one
01:36many years ago and it gave me good service. Unfortunately after a while the
01:41pluggies that the sound cables go into they start to give trouble. They get very
01:48loose and you can fix them. I fixed them a few times and then later on they give
01:53problems again. So I fixed them again and they're okay for a time. But yeah
01:58eventually I just get tired of it. That's why I got that other system. I
02:02thought I would be happy with it. But yeah then the bass is really... I don't know I
02:08cannot really hear what the sounds are really like with that insane bass that I
02:12cannot turn down a bit. So yeah I think I'll be installing this one.
02:17Let's just have a look at the information on the box. It says there AIM Platinum
02:23Series 2.1 Channel Multimedia Speaker. And there's a photo of it. Down there it
02:31says this is what is that? Bluetooth, USB playback, MMC playback that's a memory card.
02:39What is this FM tuner and AUT input. Auxiliary I think that stands for. One
02:48year warranty. What are the specifications on it? Let's see output power subwoofer 30
02:57watt RMS speaker 15 watt times two RMS speaker unit subwoofer 5.25 inch speakers
03:05three inch times two. And then there's frequency response. You can read all that
03:12for yourself there. I'm not gonna bother with all that now. And so on and so forth.
03:18Let's just see. Is there other information of interest? Other side looks about the
03:23same. On this side exactly the same. So I suppose now comes the time to just
03:32unboxing. Let me just cut it here with scissors. Cut the tape off. And on this side cut the
03:43tape. Cut the tape. And we open it. And what do we find? Alrighty. Okay. So let's see what
03:58have we got. A little bag with a user manual. Let's take that out. I don't know if there's
04:08anything of interest in here that we should read. Specifications. Bolt OCL amplifier.
04:14Magnetic shielded treatment designed. Able to be configured with TV sets or
04:18computers. Creating a larger dynamic range in the low frequency. A smoother
04:24middle frequency. And a pure and harmonious high frequency. Alright let me just
04:30hold it close here. You can so you can read if you want. Operation. Please connect the
04:35sound sources. And so on. Attention. Please turn the volume knob to the minimum
04:40position before your operation. Alright. And there's a sketch map. The sketch map
04:49they call it. Oh and Bluetooth operating instructions. Firstly change the input
04:57signal to Bluetooth and display showing BT. Secondly change the mobile or other
05:03Bluetooth function player into Bluetooth mode. Then scan equipment. Oh yeah I
05:07actually didn't know this thing can do Bluetooth. For Android phone and so on and
05:13so on. When the phone input FM play pause FM plus. Alright I'm using this mostly just
05:21for my television setup. But yeah now that I know it also has Bluetooth then maybe I'll
05:27use it for other things. I was gonna play music also with it through a memory card. Anyway what
05:34else do we have? Okay just your normal cables. Green, red, white. Oh the green yeah the
05:43green is like the stereo sound cable. And furthermore there is a remote control unit. Oh it's this way around is it?
05:56Yeah. Shall I just take it out and see if it has batteries? Now we'll do that later.
06:03Let's first see what else do we have here. Okay there's obviously a speaker. One of the
06:14speakers. Looks nice. Put that down for a second. We'll listen what it sounds like in
06:22just a bit. And there's obviously the other one. They do come in pairs. But of
06:31course all great things come in three. So let's see the third one. This is a huge
06:39woofer. See how big that is. I'm used to smaller woofers.
06:49Okay let me just put that down for a second. Alright that's as much as is in the box. Let's
06:58have a look at this woofer. Now where do I open this up? Here on here. See this looks almost the size of a desktop computer. A tower computer.
07:12As they used to be called. This is what it looks like on the side. There it seems to
07:19be the aerial for the radio. What else is there? Oh the input and the output.
07:26And what does it say there? Oh just aim 2.1 channel multimedia speaker. Model is CZ201.
07:38And so on and so forth. Oh and there's a switch. Now we must just remember there's a switch there
07:47that we need to turn on. And there's a little sticker. It says tear up useless. Okay if it's
08:00that useless why did they put it on there? Alright. Here's a hole in it. And here is the front of it.
08:07Just got a piece of plastic on it. Let's take that off. Oh here of course is your speaker.
08:16Big speaker. And there's your USB. And your SD card goes in there. That's good to know. I'll be playing
08:27some SD card. On the front it says aim. And there's your operating buttons. And this. Oh this can turn.
08:38Obviously a volume knob I suppose. Oh there it says. Input. And this is back or FM. Play and pause and forward.
08:50Okay. I suddenly believe we're gonna get great sound out of this. This is just a power cable for it.
09:00Yeah I actually thought this is just some cheap supermarket thingy. But I think the sound might
09:07surprise us. Alright there's just a power cable. We're gonna plug that into the wall. Alright now
09:13obviously these smaller speakers. We need to connect to the big speaker. Let me just undo this. Okay we got
09:22it. I just want to see is it a specific one that needs to be on a specific side. No. We'll just put
09:29one on the left and one on the right then. This thing looks like it should have a handle here but it
09:33doesn't. We'll just put it in the middle. And put one on the left side of it. And let's connect the cables.
09:43Where now? Oh input left. There we go. And of course the other one also we need to connect.
09:59Here we are. Yeah. We connect it to the right. There is it now.
10:13Okay. And it's connected. Output. Where would that go out to? Oh it seems it just has an output.
10:24I'm not sure where it's gonna be output to. Because this system is the final speakers.
10:30Got one on the left. And one speaker on the right. Now let's move. Let's space them out a little bit.
10:38And of course here on the side was where we put in the USB and the SD card. I'm gonna put in my SD card there.
10:48Which way does it go now? This way around. Yeah. With the shiny copper things to the front.
10:58And it's in. All right. We just needed to turn it on here on the back. There.
11:09And there. Oh. I almost thought there's nothing. But there's a little red light.
11:20So. How do we do this now? Play. Ah there we go.
11:25So. It said something. I'm not sure what. Ah. Input. SD card. Now why is it so muffled?
11:38It seems to be playing. I'm not. It's very very muffled. Why is that?
11:51I'm not getting any sound from the little speakers. That's why.
12:05Ah. What did we do wrong?
12:08Oh. You know what? We need to put this into output. That's what the output was for.
12:15Ah. There we go.
12:16There we are.
12:29Yeah. Now we're getting much better sound out of this.
12:38Yeah. And this, I believe, is the volume.
12:46Okay. Let's try another track.
12:58What now? Must I press play?
13:05Oh no. Now we paused it, you see. Now it's flittery.
13:09Ah. There we go.
13:16There we go.
13:19Yeah. Pretty nice sound.
13:31Yeah. That's pretty nice.
13:32Let's just see here on the back.
13:35Oh, you cannot change the volume of the bass.
13:39Usually here on the back they have another volume setting.
13:44Volume control for the bass.
13:48This one doesn't seem to have that, unfortunately.
13:52But yeah, I think the bass is okay.
13:54Yeah, I think it'll do for my television setup.
13:57Pretty nice sound.
13:59It's just a shame you cannot change just the volume of just the bass.
14:03Yeah, what do you think of the sound?
14:17I know you're only hearing it through the microphone of the camera now.
14:22So, I don't know. Maybe it sounds good. Maybe it doesn't sound good.
14:26Sounds good to me though.
14:27Let me just check the booklet.
14:28Maybe you can set it to different modes or something.
14:33Ah, you know what? No.
14:35It doesn't say anything about the different modes.
14:38Usually, usually these things, well, sometimes they come with different modes.
14:44You can set for like classical music or pop music and yeah, it'll have a different,
14:50what can we say, equalizer setting for each of those genres.
14:54This one seems to just be one, one setting throughout.
15:00But yeah, it's all right.
15:03Let me just hear something else.
15:06It's a different style of music. Here's some classical.
15:20Not bad.
15:21Not bad.
15:25Some piano music.
15:26Yeah, nice.
15:39Something jazzy.
15:42Actually, this really sounds nice on the jazzy and the piano music.
15:56Even the bass sounds to be set just at the right level.
16:08And some pop music.
16:23Yeah, look at it shaking here.
16:37I don't want to get it shaking.
16:51Yeah.
16:53yeah you know what the only thing is it's not really that loud i'm gonna set it to
17:17maximum now the volume
17:26oh that is pretty loud i just said it pretty loud on a previous song but i think the song was
17:33recorded really soft the levels of the song when it's loud like this this thing is pretty loud
17:41especially in a small room
18:03all right well there we now listen to a few styles of music on the system
18:07and uh yeah i think it does pretty well and on that note i think i'm gonna leave you
18:17so that i can go and install this connect this to my television setup
