The India vs England first Test 2025 at the Headingley, Leeds on Day 5 saw England defeat India by five wickets chasing down 371 in the last innings. England ended the Day 4's play on 21/0 and still needed 350 runs to win. Ben Duckett (149) and Zak Crawley (65) resumed their innings by putting up a solid partnership. Despite repeated attempts, India couldn't dismiss them by lunch and when Prasidh Krishna (2/92) finally dismissed Crawley, England were on 188 and well on course to the win. Prasidh immediately dismissed Ollie Pope as well, giving hope to India but Duckett carried on his sensational batting even after scoring a century. Shardul Thakur (2/51) dismissed Duckett and Harry Brook in consecutive deliveries and instilled some hope back once again but first Ben Stokes (33) and then Jamie Smith (44*) stood with Joe Root (53*) till the end to make sure England go over the finishing line comfortably. With this, England take 1-0 lead in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
