Murder 24-7 The DPD Murder Pt2 S02E02 (17 Jun 2025)
Transcript
00:00There was blood on the banister, blood on the door, blood on the side of the wall.
00:16They've both been attacked in here and then the bleeding started in there.
00:20This is a beast of a job. We're going to be busy.
00:22She's pulled it out of the undergrowth and one end is covered with blood.
00:26Obviously raises the question, where is the other knife?
00:30These are commonly fractured in somebody who has been strangled.
00:35We need to understand what happened, where and in what sequence.
00:41They were both lovely people.
00:43But you see, you don't know what's going on in the home, do you?
00:47Oh my God.
00:49It's a handgun of some description.
00:51Go, go.
00:54Go, go, go, go, go, go.
00:55Please, do where you are!
00:57Come on, Hanks. Come on, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks, Hanks.
01:02We're cooking on gas.
01:04There's no grey here, it's black and white.
01:08It's murder.
01:08This is the main bit of interest, is this thicket here.
01:24Chuck it over that tree line, mate, and follow that path.
01:27If the white hoodie's over there, that'd stand out a mile, wouldn't it?
01:30Should they?
01:31A police search team is hunting for weapons used in a murder the previous day.
01:40Make sure we keep the line.
01:42They've already recovered a broken golf club
01:44and an axe.
01:47But multiple weapons are still missing.
01:58Those weapons were used in the killing of DPD delivery driver, Arman Singh.
02:06He was ambushed in broad daylight by eight attackers.
02:09He's carrying a long-handled weapon.
02:13Oh, it's a long-handled one. It's not like a short one.
02:15No, no, no, it's a proper...
02:17This is big.
02:18They fled in two cars.
02:21One of them, a white Mercedes, was found abandoned.
02:25No-one's seen leaving the vehicle.
02:27Following a massive manhunt...
02:28Contact, contact with the vehicle.
02:30He's turning right onto...
02:32The occupants of the second car were arrested.
02:42At interview, three of them stayed silent.
02:45Have you ever met Arman Singh?
02:47No.
02:49No problem.
02:52But one talked.
02:54Did you strike him at that golf club?
02:56I just threw the golf club and ran.
03:00Denying any involvement in the murder.
03:02Did you assault him?
03:04No.
03:06Detectives believe that the victim, Arman,
03:09may have been blamed for an earlier attack in Derby.
03:14In the blue jacket, that's potentially Arman.
03:18Less than 24 hours later, Arman's located and killed.
03:22And that the gang must have had help from someone inside DPD.
03:27They've been in the area at least an hour beforehand.
03:30Inside job, mate.
03:31Inside job.
03:32Inside job.
03:34But they're no closer to knowing who.
03:36But they're no closer to knowing who.
03:36The young man within the road.
04:03DCI Mark Bellamy is leading a team of 45 detectives and specialists
04:12trying to solve Armand's murder.
04:20OK.
04:22We'll make a start.
04:24I'm just mindful that we've got a lot to get through.
04:27PM was conducted.
04:29He's got an injury to the right ear, which is consistent with heavy impact.
04:33And golf club is probable for that.
04:36We've got some other injuries, which are a combination of blunt force injuries
04:39and stab wounds.
04:41The axe wound has caused the protrusion of the brain through the skull.
04:45And Dr Lockyer's requested all weapons be submitted,
04:48which, at this moment in time, we've got the golf club and the axe.
04:55Forensics, Paul?
04:56Urgent to start went off this morning, which is the axe and the hoodie
04:59that it was wrapped in from the address in Tipton.
05:02Great.
05:03Also a trainer with blood, which has seized off one of the suspects.
05:07The putter head and the putter shaft from the original scene.
05:12That's our five urgent submissions.
05:15We hope we should get a result within about three days.
05:18About less than three days.
05:22Three days.
05:23Friday, we hope.
05:24Yeah, so do I.
05:26Yeah.
05:26Pulsar have finished with the DPD van.
05:29There is no tracking that they can find on it.
05:32OK, that's fine.
05:33Give us an overview in terms of the devices, then.
05:35We're fortunate that we have got some.
05:38Victim's phone.
05:39We've now got code for it, which has been provided for the one,
05:44so that's been forwarded on, but we haven't had an update in relation
05:47to how that download is going on.
05:50There's been three other phones which have been recovered from the Audi,
05:53and then the two which have been recovered from the suspects on arrest,
05:59they are down with digital forensics.
06:01They haven't been able to get into them, and they're pinlocked.
06:03OK, DPD, there's a lot of work that's required around DPD.
06:07We need to understand how the offenders know
06:10to go and park up in the Coton Hill area.
06:14How do they know to be there?
06:15Must be somebody tipping them off.
06:17Somebody must know the route.
06:20Yeah, I've been dialoguing with the security of DPD.
06:22This vehicle, it's doing four hours of deliveries
06:26prior to arriving in Coton Hill,
06:30where it does some additional deliveries in and around that estate.
06:34There's no way that anyone's going to be able to track the DPD van,
06:40so at the moment, they can't establish any way
06:43someone will be able to have a look where they were due to go,
06:45but they're doing some additional work around that in relation to patterns.
06:48OK, thanks, Rob.
06:49So I need someone, probably a couple of people,
06:52to start building up the intelligence picture
06:54in terms of outstanding offenders and further associates
06:57that we're looking for.
07:13If you can just make sure you've done all around the edges.
07:19Just pause it there, second tone, please.
07:22Just take it back.
07:23So that's the mall.
07:24So we've got the mall.
07:25Turning in unison, together.
07:28Yeah.
07:28I think we're going to try and go there.
07:38So they can see who at Stoke would have known where that van was going.
07:43To work out how the attackers could have known Armand's movements in advance,
07:50Mark sends two of his team to the DPD depot.
07:53It just seems sort of strange that they were waiting.
07:59They knew where they were going.
08:00And the information we've got so far
08:02is that very few people would have known the exact route.
08:06Yeah.
08:06But actually, the offenders clearly knew quite accurately
08:10where to be at the right time.
08:14Quite an unusual location to do an ambush.
08:17It's in that really residential area during the summer holidays.
08:21Lots of people at home, lots of potential witnesses.
08:24And there aren't easy exit and ingress routes for those people.
08:29So why did they choose there?
08:33It might be that it was a good guess
08:36or that they'd find out another way.
08:38But until we get there and sort of quiz them,
08:42it's, you know, we don't really know.
08:44Hello, my name's DC Neerward.
08:58I'm from West Mercia Police.
09:00We're here to talk about one of your drivers
09:02that was attacked and murdered on Monday,
09:05if you're aware of that incident.
09:07Yeah.
09:08Do you want to come through over there?
09:10The Santa Cross is a specific reception.
09:12I'll get a talk on to you.
09:13Thank you very much.
09:13Great, thanks.
09:26Back at HQ,
09:29the Digital Forensics Team is extracting data
09:33from the suspect's phones
09:34for the Intelligence Team to analyse.
09:43You can get so much from a phone now.
09:47Infinite text messages, infinite calls.
09:51Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp.
09:54The phone is the key of unlocking how people are linked
10:02and how did these suspects know each other.
10:05But you can't sit and review months' worth of data.
10:14So, you're always balancing what's reasonable in your job in the timeframe that you've got.
10:25We've got partial extractions from the ShivDeep and JagDeep.
10:36Like our ShDeep's phone, we've got 141,000 pages worth of stuff which needs going through,
10:43which is a lot of work, so we're going to have to go through the videos and the images and stuff like that.
10:48Some of it's in Punjabi.
10:50So, yeah, just to have a look at how big the actual extraction is.
10:55There's around 19 weeks' worth of work for a single officer now.
11:01That's based on what we've set already.
11:03Until the phone was seized.
11:04Yeah.
11:05Yeah.
11:05That's a lot of work.
11:06That's a lot of work, yeah.
11:07I'm just thinking if we can do it in stages, potentially.
11:09With what we know, I believe the catalyst was Derby, where guns, you know...
11:14Yeah.
11:15There's clearly issues charged, weapons have been used.
11:18And then from the back of that, Armand gets murdered.
11:21They've only been making plans from the...
11:22Yes, well, I think that's clearly what we found.
11:26So, I think I can justify making that decision that we go from that Sunday initially to when they were arrested.
11:31Clearly there's a lot going on, but I just think we need to just try and...
11:33Yeah, condense it down.
11:36Just condense it down.
11:37I mean, with the new time parameters, we're kind of going from a month of data to two days of data,
11:42so I'm hoping that it will calm down a bit.
11:46OK, I'm just going to stick you on speakerphone, because Nia's here as well.
12:04Right.
12:05When the parcels come in, that one parcel for Berwick Avenue would have been one of about 20,000 to 30,000 parcels.
12:13Very tricky to know which parcel was going to which route.
12:18So, the chances of it being spotted and known it was for our victim is really, really slim.
12:26So, it hasn't really given us an obvious, like, staff member that's clocked the address and passed it on, so...
12:37Unless there's anything from their CCTV inquiries.
12:40But the CCTV, it's really, really good CCTV, but it's sort of overhead.
12:45So, we've had a quick look.
12:46It's not the best for IDing if you don't know them,
12:50but it will cover all their movements and what they're doing.
13:00The most realistic way of someone realising where our victim is going
13:05was if someone walks past their pile, bearing in mind they were late,
13:09so the pile had been there a little while, and actually physically looking.
13:13Exactly right. If you have the name of the package, just one package,
13:17he's going to turn up there at some point.
13:19So, we need to see if anybody else, other than somebody from that van,
13:22has gone and looked at any of those boxes to see the address.
13:30Intelligence officer Rob Loach
13:32now has the job of scouring dozens of hours of footage
13:36from cameras all over the DPD depot.
13:42It shows Armen on the morning he was murdered.
13:56And covers the bay, where he and his co-driver loaded their vehicle.
14:06But it doesn't reveal anything suspicious.
14:17From what I can see at the moment,
14:19obviously, it's just the initial review.
14:22There's nothing that sort of jumps out
14:24in regards to a package having a specific, you know, attention paid to it.
14:30What I think would probably be the best way forward
14:36is for DPD to actually look at the software
14:41and see who's been looking at this route,
14:43and I think that might be a good way forward.
14:45It makes a lot more sense for me to be speaking to someone in person
14:49rather than ping-ponging emails.
14:50That's not going to get us anywhere forward in the timescales that we need,
14:54so I need to be over there
14:54and try to drive this forward as much as we can.
14:57Have a proper look at who's been accessing their computer systems.
15:00As Rob heads down to the depot to access DPD's records,
15:14the search for weapons continues.
15:19Despite recovering the golf club and axe...
15:23Is this the way in, is it?
15:28Nothing else has been discovered.
15:30We need... Yeah, we need to search that, yeah.
15:33OK.
15:37Disregard it, mate, if it's looking old.
15:39So the team is looking for other possible sites.
15:42The attackers may have passed as they fled the scene.
15:46Ah, no.
15:47Well, that looks like our vehicle in question.
15:50To help broaden out the search,
15:52DC Tony Mantle is tracking the movements of both cars immediately after the murder.
15:59So this is the Spar Stork Post Office on Ellesmere Road.
16:08And now we've got 13.07.21.
16:11We have got...
16:12Not really driving that quickly, to be fair, considering what they've just done.
16:17Can't see a reg.
16:18However, you can tell that's an Audi and that's a Mercedes.
16:22Literally in convoy behind each other.
16:2513.07 is post-incident.
16:28And they're heading away from the scene, out of town, back towards the Shoesby Bypass.
16:36The Mercedes has been discovered dumped on Kiniston Road.
16:40So what we clearly need to know now is try and establish a bit of a search area
16:48on what is the obvious route out.
16:55They've been caught on CCTV in convoy.
16:59So we're working on a theory.
17:00The Audi, that's at the front of the convoy,
17:03is captured on CCTV at the Audi roundabout.
17:05Yeah.
17:06So that doesn't stop.
17:07But the Merc stops somewhere.
17:11The team moves to a new search site,
17:14two miles north of the crime scene.
17:18It's a busy road, used by the attackers to escape.
17:24We'll do a walk side by side.
17:26I think it's going to be a few walks,
17:28because there's only two of us, so we'll have to walk down.
17:31Up, down, up, down, up, down.
17:33A pair of gloves if you need them, mate.
17:34So we're going out in, are we?
17:37Should we do that as a last sector, then?
17:39Yeah, that's going to be accessible from that road we came off, mate, I think.
17:52I'm sure that's nothing, but...
17:54Was it there?
17:55Yeah, just there.
17:56No-one's moved it or disturbed it.
17:59We've got a potential find.
18:01It's basically the end of a blade.
18:03What I would suggest is probably a kitchen knife
18:04for something that's been discarded.
18:09It's right there.
18:11Yeah.
18:11The chances are, it's not going to be anything to...
18:14But given how serious the offence is,
18:17we'd be criticised not to have it.
18:18Yeah, yeah.
18:19I'll grab my step and end it started.
18:21Okay-doke.
18:22As the search continues...
18:32A phone call is received.
18:44From a member of the public.
18:45I took my dog for a walk on Hubert Way on Tuesday afternoon
18:51and I took some items and I was going to take a picture of them
18:54and put them on Facebook.
18:57I have a hockey stick and a spade.
19:01Does Soco need to go to forensically recover them?
19:04Yes, please, yeah.
19:05In your own words, just take me through where you were on that day
19:27and what you noticed.
19:28So it was Tuesday afternoon
19:29and I'd gone down Hubert Way to walk the dog
19:32and in the hedge was a spade and a hockey stick,
19:37which I thought was a bit strange.
19:40So I picked them both up,
19:42thinking that somebody had had their shed broken into.
19:45Loads of people went past me,
19:46must have thought I was mad walking a dog
19:48carrying a spade and a hockey stick, but...
19:53And I just put them in the boot of the car
19:54with the intention that I was going to put it on Facebook later to say.
19:59But I completely forgot.
20:03And it wasn't until this afternoon
20:05when I read on the news app
20:07that I suddenly thought,
20:08oh, maybe I've picked something up I shouldn't have picked up.
20:12Obviously, when you hit somebody, they don't bleed immediately.
20:17So just cos you don't get blood on an item
20:19doesn't mean it hasn't...
20:20..hasn't hit someone, if that makes sense.
20:24It never even occurred to me
20:25that it might be something to do on Monday.
20:27When you hear about something like that,
20:28you don't think of a hockey stick and a spade, really, do you?
20:32But, um...
20:33But, no, I didn't spot anything else.
20:43Convinced that both items must have been used in the attack,
20:46the search team relocates once more
20:50to where they were found,
20:54an area of scrubland well away from the main road.
21:01Is there a footpath that runs behind here?
21:04Yeah. Is that correct?
21:05I don't know how far down it goes, cos I haven't been down there,
21:07but there are a couple of other, like, cut-throughs down that way.
21:12They've come from that direction, along the main road,
21:22turned right into here.
21:24Done.
21:25Done this.
21:26Gone back onto the main road, turned right.
21:28Sticks to me right in that lane.
21:30Yeah.
21:30I think, literally, this is just a deposition, right?
21:34Yeah, it's a nice, quiet place, but we've done it.
21:36Check it.
21:36You're always working against the clock,
21:41trying to recover the evidence as quickly as you can, really.
21:45Yeah, we'll do it.
21:47But you have to, obviously, not rush what you're doing
21:50and make sure you're getting what you need.
21:56When you're looking in an undergrowth,
21:58we go through very slowly
22:00to ensure we're not trampling over possible evidence.
22:03Footwear, clothing,
22:08anything left in a scene
22:11can be forensically looked at in some way or another.
22:16Look here.
22:26Yeah, it's like a scarf of some kind.
22:29Or a turban.
22:30Or a turban.
22:31One or more were wearing turbans.
22:43If that's been part of it,
22:45they've thrown it in there,
22:45that could be something else that's heavier
22:47that's gone through.
22:48Yeah.
22:54CCTV shows
22:55them carrying long items
22:57that we can't identify.
22:59That's it.
23:11Where is it?
23:12There.
23:12OK.
23:13That's just a little pile.
23:15Ah.
23:29There's a clue.
23:34Blood.
23:35It appears to be blood.
23:43All right.
23:44Sophie's recovered a...
23:46about a...
23:47what?
23:48One metre long
23:49piece of...
23:51wood?
23:52Yeah.
23:53It's a bit...
23:54Yeah, a bit of two by two, really.
23:56About ten feet from where
23:59the dog walker indicated
24:01the hockey stick
24:02and shovel were.
24:05She's pulled it out
24:06of the undergrowth
24:07and one end is covered with blood.
24:09We presume that's blood.
24:11We're testing to see if it is.
24:13If it goes pink,
24:14it's blood.
24:16Nice and pink.
24:17Yeah.
24:18Yeah, good.
24:19Good.
24:44Good.
24:48No, that's absolutely fine.
25:07Last night, we had the finds in Hubert Way.
25:10Yeah.
25:10And at the lay-by.
25:13Yes.
25:14The knife at the lay-by, we don't think is...
25:17No, because it's serrated, isn't it?
25:19Yeah, it's something like you'd eat food with.
25:21Yeah, yeah.
25:21But we've got it.
25:22Then you've got the dog-walking track,
25:24which is where the lady walks up and down her dog,
25:27and the scene where the hockey stick and the shovel,
25:30which is very clear around, it says the shovel and the spade.
25:33We've then got the purple...
25:35I'm calling it a turban, but it's a purpley-blue piece of cloth.
25:39It looks like a turban, a very long, short piece,
25:42about ten feet to the right,
25:44thrown right into the bushes under the nettles.
25:46It looked like a fence post when you first saw it.
25:48Yeah.
25:49When we got it out, it's a metre-length piece of two-by-two pine timber.
25:54It looks like, you know, something you get from Wicks.
25:56It looked all right until we turned it over,
25:58and it's heavily bloodstained on one end.
26:01That'll need to go away, then, won't it?
26:03Yep.
26:04Fantastic. Thank you, Paul.
26:05Thank you, Paul.
26:06Five possible murder weapons have now been sent for testing.
26:17The team must wait and see if there's any forensic link to their suspects.
26:23My only concern at the moment is that the weapons come back positive for blood to the victim,
26:37but the other end that come back to unknown males aren't that at fault.
26:46The occupants of the other vehicle used in the attack, the white Mercedes, are still on the run.
27:01That vehicle was found dumped, but the four attackers were nowhere to be seen.
27:11And so far, they've evaded police.
27:14But intelligence is received that they could be hiding out at an address in Birmingham.
27:28We're going to do the strike and then the pulse of search.
27:30We're going to have to force entry and be really quick.
27:35The raid is being led by Sergeant James Rimmer.
27:39Weapons, as per the previous, so spades, bats, knives, potentially machete was mentioned as well.
27:51We've got no idea of the clothing attribution, but clearly if we locate something that is blood-stained
27:58or appears to be blood-stained, then that needs to be escalated for a forensic recovery.
28:03We don't know an awful lot about the address, so we'll just do it hard and fast,
28:07get everybody secured, get everybody handcuffed, and we'll take it from there.
28:21The raid involves eight officers, backed up by a unit called Task Force,
28:30who are specially trained in forced entry.
28:32We need to get in there in a dynamic fashion, with numbers.
28:40Let's go.
28:44To overwhelm any response that could come.
28:47The adrenaline is definitely part of it.
29:01From the minute you're off the van, you want to be through that front door.
29:06Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
29:30Police!
29:34Police!
29:34Police, show yourselves!
29:35Police, show yourselves!
29:38Police, show yourselves!
29:39Police, show yourselves!
29:47Clear!
29:48Police, officers from the taser!
29:50Police!
29:51We've got a cellar down there, boys.
29:53Go.
29:55Police!
29:58Police!
29:58Police!
29:58Police!
29:59Police!
29:59Police!
29:59The property's vacant, as in no person's there but occupied, it looks like it's a bed-sit-style
30:15property. We've got multiple names on post but we're going to try and, well, we're going
30:21to still execute the 18. Cheers, trot to trot, bye-bye.
30:26The suspects are nowhere to be seen.
30:30The search for weapons or clothing begins.
30:35Fuckin' hell!
30:38That's got to be an offence under that prohibited weapons act, hasn't it? I'd have said so.
31:00Jimmo? Handgun of some description, mate.
31:05Hello, mate. Hi, boss. Very quickly, we found a self-loading pistol in the rear garden.
31:23In a lean-to. It was all tied up in a bag and sort of concealed. It looks pretty old. It
31:42is missing part of the barrel, so I don't necessarily think it would be functioning
31:47per se, but it could still potentially fire. I mean, it's up to you. We're happy to recover.
31:53We just want it being made safe before we do so. No worries. Cheers, mate.
31:58In the rear garden, they've recovered a bag that contains what appears to be a self-loading
32:06pistol. But it looks like some of the barrel might be missing. It looks like it's been there
32:10quite a while. Well, he ain't been shot, has he? No. So I think we could just recover that.
32:17You just never know. Go on, then. Get someone to make it safe and... Yeah, he wants me to go
32:26and make it safe, and then... Yeah, OK. Yeah, as I thought, mate, get it made safe,
32:29and then you can recover it. OK.
32:39With no further arrests, attention turns to the four men already in custody.
32:47In their previous interviews, everyone stayed silent.
32:54Do you know Armin? No, Chris. What time did you start driving that vehicle yesterday?
33:01Were there any weapons in the car? No.
33:06Until suspect number four, Arshti, was called in.
33:11I saw that everybody was assaulting bedtime. I tried to pull some of them back.
33:17I saw that.
33:24Detectives now think he could be the weak link.
33:29And it's up to DS Alex Sullivan to find a way of increasing the pressure on him.
33:35The more information you can get out of someone, the more lines of inquiry you're going to have,
33:40then, to chip away at their story.
33:41This is a recommencement of a video interview of Arshti Singh.
33:48If someone makes up a story, it's really hard to stick to it.
33:51It's impossible for the human brain to remember it all,
33:53especially if you drill down and get lots of detail.
33:57You are inevitably going to get a slightly different answer,
33:59or something that will push you to think that they're not telling you the truth.
34:02It's impossible for the human brain to get out of someone.
34:03It's impossible for the human brain to get out of someone.
34:06Have you been put under any duress or any pressure in order to go up
34:09and be involved in this murder of the victim?
34:14If he is put under any duress in order to comply and be involved in this,
34:26then here and now is his opportunity.
34:30Shrewsbury, to where you're arrested, take a while to travel.
34:34And at any point, did any of the occupants of the car get out of the car
34:38from when they've left Shrewsbury to getting arrested?
34:44Nobody left the car.
34:45I have no idea.
34:46I have no idea.
34:47Did anybody discard of any clothing?
34:51No.
34:52Did you throw away any clothing?
34:57You've not got out of the car?
35:00You've not disposed of any items?
35:04Any clothing?
35:08Any items, which may be weapons?
35:14No.
35:17I've got no further questions at the moment of time.
35:18Switching off the...
35:22But he says that during that drive, no-one gets in or out of the car,
35:26including him.
35:27At no point does he get in and out of the car.
35:30And they just stop there and then they get stopped by the police.
35:32Just had a U-turn about to approach the X to the close again now, over.
35:37To challenge Archdeep's claim that no-one got out of the car
35:41and no items were dumped,
35:46detectives returned to the helicopter footage of their arrest.
35:50It was shot without the suspects knowing.
35:55Yes, at Hellier Avenue.
35:57Hellier Avenue, and I'm flicked close.
35:59Crop.
36:02Yeah, rear nearside passenger out.
36:04Just going to the boot of the vehicle.
36:06Male, white t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms.
36:11There he is.
36:13Yeah, male's out.
36:14He's got something concealed in what looks like a bloody sub-description,
36:18like a long slender item.
36:22Yeah, that's Ashdeep.
36:23That's clearly, clearly Ashdeep.
36:25Clear as day, really.
36:26It's his clothing.
36:29Down by the bits to the left of the address.
36:31It's where this item's been, this guy.
36:36So, Leroma, two-eighters, for info,
36:38it's an axe in this bin, covered in a hoodie.
36:46That's quite a good image, isn't it?
36:47Yeah.
36:48Could you get that as a still for us?
36:49Yeah.
36:50Certainly can.
36:51We're going to show him the CCTV, but that's like...
36:52Yeah.
36:53He can't argue that if he's shown that in an interview,
36:54he can't argue that that's for him.
36:56That'll probably be part of it.
36:57When they've given that story,
36:58they think they've given a really good account of themselves,
37:01where we're not going to be able to prove anything.
37:03And we'll be coming at the end and challenging them.
37:07It's the most memorable part of the interview.
37:08It's the bit that really gets you, you know, excited,
37:11and it's incredibly satisfying.
37:12Absolutely.
37:12Yeah.
37:17As we've disclosed, we're going to cover the footage from the N-Pass,
37:20which is our helicopter camera,
37:23before and at the time of your arrest.
37:25N-Pass, I think we're overhead.
37:26Yeah, just confirm me three vehicles behind the HGV.
37:31Describe that vehicle to me.
37:33Incident, uh, already here for you.
37:36Hey, Tim.
37:37And at the rear, we can see the registration, EY6.
37:40We've just started showing the clips that you made.
37:44Come down at the right time.
37:45Yeah, it's going down at the right time.
37:46Yeah, perfect timing.
37:48The driver's not out of the vehicle at this stage ever.
37:50Kind of doing it backwards.
37:51So he's seeing the arrest first.
37:52Yeah.
37:53He's probably thinking, yeah,
37:54if they've got the helicopter on that bit,
37:57there's likely they've been following us for a while.
38:01I'm going to play the song now.
38:04You'll hear commentary from the helicopter,
38:07and our mains eject in between.
38:09You can see by his body language,
38:10he's getting more uncomfortable, isn't he?
38:12Yeah.
38:13Yeah, can you like the driver?
38:14It looks like an email tattooed right arm,
38:16a different information.
38:17Just let me get that link.
38:21You're in the car this time.
38:23Yeah.
38:25And you were sat where?
38:29Nearside of the car.
38:30So look, this side in the rear.
38:32Yeah.
38:35Yeah, rear nearside passenger out.
38:38Just going to the boot of the vehicle.
38:40I see four male, white t-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms.
38:43Yeah, male's out.
38:45He's got something concealed in what looks like a hoodie of some description,
38:53like a long slender item.
38:55He's just gone towards one of the addresses to stand by for the location.
38:58He's just now, he's ditched that item at the address,
39:01and he's just walking back to the vehicle.
39:02So what's happening there?
39:05What's happening there?
39:09I'm not sure.
39:14So they told me there is something at the back of the car.
39:18Can you take it out and put it there?
39:20And what was that item?
39:23I don't have any idea.
39:28It was covered in a hoodie, and I picked it up and put it there,
39:32because I was myself very scared.
39:34Do you know what that item was covered in the hoodie?
39:37Not sure.
39:37So if you pick up an axe in a hoodie, you get a note.
39:40You can feel it, it's an axe in a hoodie, can't you?
39:42Yeah. You're not going to wonder what it is.
39:44He's just going to play the victim now, so he's under duress all the time, isn't he?
39:49I put it to you, Archie, that you did know what that item is,
39:52but you're just declining to tell me.
39:58No, sir, it was already covered in a hoodie.
40:01They shouted at me, and they said that I had to do it.
40:05I couldn't have refused, because there were three people,
40:08and they said that forcefully to me.
40:12If you didn't do it, what do you think would happen to yourself?
40:20So they could have beaten me up, or could have verbally abused me.
40:25Now you've been interviewed for four, five hours so far.
40:29Because you gave loads of detail of where you went, specifically asked,
40:34and then you specifically asked, did you stop and did anyone,
40:38you or anyone, get out of that car?
40:39And he said no.
40:40And he said no.
40:42So he's had the opportunity, so it's not like he's forgotten about it,
40:45because it's very significant, he's under pressure,
40:47he's been told he doesn't want to do it, so why isn't he told?
40:50Yeah.
40:51Or are you just lying to us?
40:54Initially, you said that you drove and didn't stop anywhere.
40:59However, obviously, that is incorrect, because you stopped and discarded an axe
41:04and a hoodie out of the boot of the car before you got arrested.
41:07Was that item used in the attack on Armand Singh, is what I'm asking you?
41:11I'm not sure, sir.
41:12I think that you are involved in the basal attack of Armand Singh.
41:22At this moment in time, I've got no further questions in relation to these matters.
41:25Arsteep was challenged on why his account had changed after being shown CCTV footage from the scene.
41:40Arsteep stated that he'd been very nervous and scared and didn't remember such details initially.
41:46He denied he'd played any role in organising the fatal attack.
41:49He said that he didn't even have one percent idea that the males had planned such an attack.
41:55He said that he'd been very well.
42:10With Arsteep's interview over,
42:16it's now all about the forensics.
42:18One of Arsteep's trainers is being analysed after spots of blood were seen on it.
42:31Along with a golf club, thoughts were being used in the attack.
42:37The results are sent to Mark.
42:39Black golf club handle AK1. There's no evidence to support the view that Manjot, Shivdeep or Jagdeep have
42:48contributed their DNA to the results. All of the components comprising the DNA profile of Arsteep
42:56are represented within this result. So Arsteep is holding the golf club.
43:00Next, they want to know if the blood on the trainer belongs to the victim, Armand Singh.
43:10You'll be pleased to know that we have a full DNA profile obtained from the blood on the outer
43:14aspect of the trainer, which matches the DNA profile of Armand Singh.
43:20I appreciate that Arsteep has given a sort of loose account of his presence at the scene,
43:30but it's at best a fanciful account.
43:33Absolutely.
43:34But now we've got concrete forensic evidence linking him on his train.
43:45With Arsteep forensically linked to the attack,
43:49and shown to have lied in interview, Mark decides it's time to contact the CPS
43:57and ask to charge him with murder.
43:59Okay.
44:03Perfect. Thank you.
44:05Okay.
44:09Go on now, Lucy.
44:10He's authorizing charge for murder.
44:12Very good on it.
44:13Yes, he is.
44:14Um...
44:14Yeah, well done.
44:17Good result for everybody, that.
44:19Okay, this way for me. We're going to go to the first desk, okay?
44:22Just go up that way and sit.
44:24Yes, sir.
44:26Just to put a tight gentleman there, please.
44:28Arsteep.
44:29No.
44:36You're charged with the following offences.
44:42You do not have to say anything.
44:45Anything you do say may be given in evidence.
44:47Okay, you're charged contrary to common law on the 21st of August, 2023.
44:55Murdered Arman Singh.
44:58What was that reply, sorry?
44:59No.
45:00What did you say?
45:01No.
45:01No.
45:01No.
45:02No.
45:02No.
45:05Just ask me, does he understand what he's been charged with?
45:12Okay.
45:14Could I ask for a signature from yourself, just to say you understand you've been charged with murder?
45:18I'm going to be remanding you here in custody to be put before the first available court.
45:26And that's due to the seriousness of the offence.
45:28I cannot give you bail.
45:44The focus is now on the remaining three suspects.
45:48Manjot.
45:50Jagdeep.
45:52And Shivdeep.
45:58Each of them had a mobile phone seized, which DS Andy Dawson has spent the last two days reviewing.
46:11The phone of suspect number three, Shivdeep, is first under the microscope.
46:18The data doesn't lie.
46:24If you're using your phone, you'll be using a cell site mast.
46:27It's like a tracker in your pocket.
46:30We can analyse the data and that will tell us exactly where you've been and when.
46:34The location data held on phones is even more accurate.
46:37It can give us a location to within a few metres of where you've been.
46:42It's basically a journal of your life.
46:46Update from Shivdeep's phone.
46:48So it still needs to be put into evidence.
46:50But he's got location settings.
46:53He's on the corner of Coton Mount, Berwick Avenue.
46:56I said 12, 1219.
46:57Yeah.
46:58Berwick Avenue.
46:59Yeah, you know the corner of Coton Mount, Berwick Avenue, yeah.
47:02So you know where the cars are staged.
47:04Who's that for?
47:06Shivdeep.
47:07So he's the driver of the Audi.
47:09Oh, that's even better, isn't it?
47:10The data shows that Shivdeep was at the crime scene at the time of the murder.
47:24But it's the phone of suspect number two, Jagdeep, that contains the biggest surprise.
47:31Ready?
47:35They filmed it.
47:40I'm going to play it a couple of times.
47:54Yeah, I've looked at the video and the person talking is saying,
47:57motherfucker, I split his head open.
47:59I think he was saying, split it open like a potato.
48:02Pussy, I sorted him out.
48:03Motherfucker, split his head open.
48:05Motherfucker.
48:10Was it Arkdeep that deposited at the address?
48:16Yeah, Arkdeep we got out of the car, but that's actually in Jagdeep's hands.
48:20Yes, that's on the opposite side, isn't it?
48:22Yeah.
48:23That's on the driver's side.
48:24Yeah.
48:25Jagdeep.
48:27Jagdeep's in a bit of bother there, isn't he?
48:29I'll show it to you, but in essence, it looks like you've got Jagdeep in the Audi,
48:42pointing his camera to the axe with blood on it.
48:45Really?
48:46Picks it up, and then you see front passenger with the two by two piece of wood just covered in blood.
48:53To work out who is holding the piece of wood, the team looks back at the arrest footage.
49:05So that's, oh, shit, deep.
49:07To see if it can provide a clue.
49:10Manager on the floor, on the mere side.
49:13That's in Mandrop's hands, isn't it?
49:38The arrest is necessary to prevent your disappearance and for a prompting effect of investigation.
49:46Very much.
49:47We're cooking on, guys.
49:48We are.
49:56The video evidence and the phone analysis means that all three remaining suspects can be charged with murder.
50:04We're charged contrary to common law that on the 21st of August, 2023, Shrewsbury and the canter of Shropshire murdered Arman Singh.
50:28Do you understand the charge?
50:29You're charged with the following offences that on the 21st of the 8th, 2023, murdered Arman Singh.
50:46He killed Arman Singh.
50:48He killed Arman Singh.
51:02Could you see?
51:03We can't tell them.
51:05It wasn't job done.
51:23The only time it's job done
51:25is when everybody who's culpable to the offence
51:28is brought to justice.
51:30And until that time, me and my team
51:36will sweat blood in order to achieve that aim.
51:57The examination of mobile phone data
52:00has thrown up one unexpected piece of evidence.
52:05Right.
52:07Where have you seen that before?
52:10A photograph of the victim's DPD van
52:14sent to one of the suspects
52:15on the morning of the murder.
52:21YJ18OEB, which is Arman Singh's DPD van.
52:26So someone's taken a picture of the van
52:28and sent it to Arshti.
52:35The data reveals it was sent from an Indian number,
52:40saved under the name Sukman, P-N-N-U.
52:44When's that gone, mate?
52:46That's 7.33 in the morning.
52:50Now that they know a photograph was sent at 7.33 a.m.,
52:55detectives return to the CCTV from the depot
52:58to see if there's anything suspicious around that time.
53:02And just before 7.30,
53:10a figure is seen standing next to Arman's van.
53:16You don't know who that is, do you?
53:18Do you know what I mean?
53:20We just don't know, don't we?
53:21Looking at DPD's records,
53:30the team can also see that later that morning,
53:33someone has accessed details of Arman's route.
53:41This is the spreadsheet for the 21st.
53:44So there's three yellow lines on here.
53:46The first yellow line is the first temp to access,
53:49which is at 10.22.56.
53:52And they've got two more.
53:54One is at 10.28.06.
53:57And the second is at 10.28.12.
53:59Menu equals depot underscore activity underscore stops,
54:03which suggests that that's when they've accessed the stops for him.
54:07So it looks like that is the first time
54:09that they get the information about where he is.
54:11Right, OK.
54:12Or where he's going to be at 10.28.12.
54:14Someone from inside DPD?
54:17Yeah.
54:18Yeah.
54:23Our route was accessed on three occasions.
54:27It was accessed via somebody
54:30who shouldn't be accessing it, really.
54:33So we're trying to understand who accessed it.
54:35We've got 14,187 drivers
54:40who would potentially have access to Shoesby routes registered with DPD.
54:46Further analysis of the suspect, Arshteepe's phone,
54:50reveals a pattern.
54:51A recurring number calling at the same time the records are being accessed.
55:00So Arshteepe calls him at 9.58
55:02and has a 32-second conversation with him.
55:05By 10 o'clock, the car's on route,
55:06so that could be the one that's pumped them to go.
55:09But this time, it's a UK number,
55:12but stored under the same name as the earlier Indian one.
55:19Tracing it leads them to a DPD employee.
55:27Sukhmandip Singh.
55:28So, essentially, he's a DPD driver.
55:40OK.
55:41He would have been at the DPD depot in the morning.
55:44Yeah.
55:44He makes calls to Arshteepe.
55:47Oh, yeah.
55:47What's his name?
55:50Sukhmandip Singh.
55:52And all the suspect's phones drop off.
55:54Yeah.
55:54His phone drops off that night
55:56and then doesn't get used again on the 21st as well.
55:59Fab.
56:00Hold on.
56:01Hold on.
56:06Now they have a possible identity for their inside man.
56:11Detectives get ready for an arrest.
56:15They track his current location through phone records.
56:22But they're in for a shock.
56:23What am I looking at?
56:26So, at 11.20 today,
56:29there's a text message from Fly With Us.
56:32Fly With Us, yeah.
56:33To...
56:34Yeah, 368A.
56:36Which is...
56:36Sukhmandip.
56:37Yeah.
56:39That would indicate he's looking to fly out of the country.
56:42Yeah.
56:44Switch it off!
56:45Switch the car off now and open the door!
56:48There's lots of communication between Sukhmandip Singh
56:50and the murder suspects.
56:52Crikey.
56:54I can't believe we've done that.
56:55You can see I'm trying to give you every opportunity
56:57to provide a reason as to why you would do this.
