00:00It was a season of progress and perspective for Everton as David Moyes returned to guide
00:08the club through their final campaign at Goodison Park.
00:12There were gritty performances, a renewed sense of belief and crucial wins in pressure
00:17moments that helped re-establish Everton's core identity.
00:22But whilst stability has returned, Moyes and the club are under no illusions.
00:26There's work to be done if Everton are to climb the Premier League table and start their
00:30new chapter at Bramley Moor Dock with real momentum.
00:36Improving their goal threat, adding depth and refining their tactical approach will be key
00:40priorities.
00:42With a large squad turnover expected and fresh leadership behind the scenes, this summer represents
00:48a pivotal point in the club's rebuild.
00:51We caught up with Will Rooney of Liverpool World to assess the areas Everton must address
00:56to turn a solid foundation into lasting progress.
01:00Will, in terms of Everton and the positives of their season, I mean, you know, like other
01:06clubs, you know, Wolves for example, it was a bit of a season of two halves with the managerial
01:11change halfway through.
01:13Before we get on to David Moyes and that probably being the main positives surrounding Everton,
01:18I mean, you have to look at and give them a real note for their away form under David Moyes.
01:23You know, wins at Newcastle, Fulham, Forest, Palace, Brighton, these are really tough places
01:29to go.
01:29If they can carry that away form into the new season, then certainly there'll be some more
01:33positives to take.
01:34So, you know, just look at Everton's season and the best moments, you know, probably that
01:40draw late on in the derby at Goodison as well was very special for them.
01:46Yeah, definitely.
01:47It was a fitting way for the final at Goodison's derby, wasn't it?
01:50And it was a fully their draw for Everton on the night.
01:53I don't think too many of our complaints, many complaints of the Liverpool fans who won
01:59the games, I thought Everton were very good on the night and what a goal from James Tarkowski
02:05in the 97th minute, rightly won Gold of the Year awards.
02:10But yeah, as you say, it was difficult in the first half, the second half of the season
02:14was a lot better when David Moyes came in.
02:16The Palace win for me, actually, was really impressive because it was three days after
02:23the derby and maybe not even three full days, I think the derby was a night game and that
02:29one was a half, half kick-off and Everton went to the well there and they dug really deep
02:36to win a Palace.
02:37That was an impressive win for me.
02:39As you say, Brighton, difficult place to go, the Leicester performance, OK, Leicester
02:44have been poor this season, but they were really good, they were excellent for 70 minutes
02:48against Tottenham before letting Tottenham back into the game and, you know, coming from
02:55behind against Fulham, difficult place to go and Newcastle as well, you know, finished
03:01fifth in the tables, being the Champions League next season.
03:05I think they're the highs that you're looking at and it's been a big second half of the season,
03:11you touched on the away form, now Everton needs to build on the home form.
03:14Going into the new ground because Goodson Park under David Moyes, especially, it was
03:19a fortress in his first spelling charge.
03:23He felt like Everton could beat any team at home and going into the new ground, that's
03:29something that David Moyes does have to address.
03:32Now, does Everton, just playing away from home, maybe suit Everton a little bit more
03:36on the counter-attack, perhaps, yeah.
03:38So, now they've got to find a way of winning at home now because you're looking at some
03:43of the resort tips, which was disappointing and Man United, the way he let the door open
03:51for them and West Ham, they weren't great in when Moyes was in charge.
03:56So, that's something that needs to be addressed in the summer.
04:00And we'll touch on Sean Dice, he deserves a lot of credit for keeping Everton up in his
04:04first season, taking over from Frank Lampard.
04:07Last season, 23-24, the points deductions, Everton would have finished 12th, I think,
04:16without the points deductions.
04:20That must have been difficult to manage internally as well.
04:23And David Moyes has said a few times, Sean Dice left a lot of good things behind.
04:28He just needed a little bit of a refresh.
04:30Someone coming in, maybe, with giving the players a little bit more free, not being as rigid.
04:38But, yeah, that's it.
04:39He'll be looking back in the season.
04:41It'll be the second half, people are remembering.
