00:00Now it's a crucial summer for Everton as David Moyes looks to reshape the squad
00:07ahead of the club's long-anticipated move to Bramley-Moore Dock.
00:12Following a season that brought renewed grit and defensive resolve,
00:15attention now shifts to building a side capable of progressing up the Premier League table.
00:22The need for attacking reinforcements is clear.
00:25Everton struggled for goals at key moments last season
00:27and adding creativity and firepower is top of the agenda.
00:32Moyes will also be seeking reinforcements in midfield and at full-back
00:36with experience and durability likely prioritised
00:39as the club eyes a more balanced, consistent campaign.
00:43A number of outgoings are also expected.
00:47With financial discipline still a factor, Everton may need to be pragmatic,
00:52trimming the squad and offloading higher earners to make room for new arrivals.
00:57This transfer window feels like a defining one with a new stadium on the horizon
01:02and Moyes at the helm.
01:04The challenge is to assemble a team that can not only compete
01:08but build toward a brighter, more ambitious future.
01:12We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World to break down the key targets,
01:17likely departures and what fans can expect from a pivotal summer
01:21in the blue half of Merseyside.
01:23Will, on to Everton and in terms of their summer window.
01:30Now we've mentioned it's going to be a lot of change,
01:33a lot of decisions to be made from Moyes and his team
01:36as to who stays.
01:38There's so many players on the edge of their contracts expiring as well.
01:42How do they sort of navigate?
01:43You know, we mentioned the priorities of keeping that core group
01:46to try and make a big push because, you know,
01:49at the end of the day they've been really struggling down the bottom
01:52with the Premier League for too long now for Everton's standards.
01:55And Moyes has come in and, you know, he's signed the contract
01:58and he's made sure it's a good length contract as well
02:01to really push Everton forward.
02:02You know, the new stadium, so much is changing at the club.
02:06They don't want to be settling for less this season.
02:08You know, next season they want to really make a, you know,
02:11a strong push and the summer's so important for them.
02:14Yeah, it's going to be, we've discussed a few times that,
02:17it's going to be an interesting summer.
02:19It's going to be interesting in terms of what funds are going to be available.
02:23Now, we know that Everton have complied with PSR
02:26for the latest accounts, so they don't have to worry about that.
02:31But they still have to be careful.
02:32They can't go out and obviously spend money
02:34like they have done in the past.
02:37So David Moyes is going to have to try and prioritise.
02:41He's going to maybe have to come to a couple of compromises as well
02:44when it comes to his recruitment, as we say, 11.
02:46I think it's 13, beg your pardon.
02:48I was a contract now, the current squad, 12 or 13.
02:54But regardless, it's a lot of players, isn't it?
02:57And you're going to have to try and keep some of those.
03:01You're going to have to, without a doubt, try and keep some of those.
03:05Do you try and tie down or just a garner guy?
03:08I think everyone would say, yes, you have to,
03:10because he's been so important.
03:11Abdoulaye Dekore, I know some supporters would like Everton to move on,
03:16but he is part of a core group and you've got to have a squad
03:21and you've got to have players that you can rely on.
03:23And that's something that every Everton manager seems to do.
03:30Jack Harrison has had a disappointing season, one goal, no assists,
03:37but he is Premier League proven.
03:40Can David Moyes get more out of him than Sean Dykes did?
03:44Because there is a player there from what he did at Leeds.
03:48And he's had a couple of good games in Nottingham Forest and Man City.
03:53So there's decisions to make.
03:55And as you say, it's a balancing act.
03:57If you get rid of these players, who else can you bring in?
03:59Who else can you bring in for the money and the wages?
04:02Because if you got rid of saying Abdoulaye Dekore, could you get two players in
04:07who are on his current wages?
04:09Or do you try and offer him a longer term deal for more security?
04:13But it might not be as lucrative for him financially.
04:19And you can go and stretch your budget a little bit more.
04:22So there's all these different things for David Moyes and his recruiting staff
04:25to consider, and that's something to prove.
04:28So it's a chance for Moyes now to have a look at another player.
04:33And he might be a little bit wise about what he wants to do in the summer.
04:36But come back to the original point, yeah, a sense of I can see him go and get
04:40getting one in the summer.
