00:00Well, those storms delivered yesterday. We recap the storm reports and rainfall. Now we're in for
00:05largely a quiet couple of days, but heat is building in for the weekend and we have more
00:09storm chances. A lot of storm reports yesterday. This is by far our most active day of this season
00:24and maybe more than what we had last year. I'd have to go back and look, but 13 tornado reports,
00:29four funnels, a lot of hail reports and large hail too. Not barely severe hail, but an almost
00:35softball sized hailstone in Waconia. Mankato had golf ball sized hail and we had almost some textbook
00:41classic looking tornadic cells yesterday. This is the cell that was around Lester Prairie,
00:45classic hook hook go on it. You can see that hook pattern on the southwest part of the storm. That
00:49is literally the rain and hail bands wrapping around that rotation, that wall cloud. And that storm did
00:56produce, it appears, at least a couple of touchdowns. So the weather service crews will
01:01be looking out. They've got their work cut out for them across central and southern Minnesota
01:05to see what happened. But large swaths of rainfall too, this time mostly northeastern Minnesota
01:10for the widespread heavy rain, three to five inches here across much of the Iron Range from Grand
01:15Rapids through Virginia, Hibbing up to Ely. And of course we had some pretty good downpours in the
01:20metro too. About an inch in just a very brief time with that cell that cut right through the city
01:26yesterday. Leftover high clouds, but that front is now to the south. These are showing the streamlines
01:31or those surface winds. So a severe threat now into Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri today. But we're still
01:38going to have some unsettled weather. The northern half of the state could see a couple of pop-up showers
01:41or thunderstorm, mainly isolated stuff. And then far southern Minnesota. Iowa will see some severe storms,
01:47but I think it'll stay safe here on the Minnesota side. But I think in between, the Twin Cities
01:51stay largely dry today and tomorrow. Near 80 today, so a little cooler, but also more importantly less
01:58humid. Dew points in the low 60s today versus almost 70 yesterday. And then tomorrow it's going to be
02:02kind of similar. Southern Minnesota, some thunderstorms, and also far northern Minnesota later
02:06in the day. And in between, I think, again, we stay largely dry. Still an isolated chance, but the
02:11better chance is north and south, both today and tomorrow. Similar temperatures tomorrow, 70s to low 80s.
02:17And then temperatures start to creep back upward here for the end of the week into the weekend.
02:21We're talking about some heat. Thursday, it looks like the best chance during the day,
02:24northeastern Minnesota. But then Thursday night into Friday looks to be the next best
02:27widespread chance of showers and thunderstorms. Might have some early morning activity and then
02:32some later in the day. But then Saturday and Sunday looking largely dry. So slightly cooler today
02:37and tomorrow, but close to normal temperatures. But then the heat builds in. We've had heat to the west.
02:42Finally, some of that has headed our direction. Saturday and Sunday looks like we're going to be in the 90s
02:46across southern Minnesota. And not a dry heat like we've seen so far this season, but dew points in
02:51the 70s. So it's going to be very steamy. Maybe some heat advisories for part of the weekend.
02:56Look at the highs on Saturday into the low, maybe mid-90s in southwestern Minnesota. And again,
03:02that's coupled with dew points in the low to mid-70s. So it will feel probably like the triple digits,
03:07both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. And then we're going to look for storms as that heat breaks.
03:11Monday, a cold front comes through. That's going to touch off storms. Maybe even some severe weather.
03:15Looks pretty juicy. Still six days away, though. And then behind that, it will be cooler, more
03:20comfortable next Tuesday, a week from now, back into the 70s for most of us for high temperatures. So
03:25finally, it's more like summer. That includes storms, though, along with heat and humidity. So near 80
03:31today. Again, best chances of rain. Spotty to isolated north. And then far southern Minnesota.
03:37Tomorrow, best chance southeast. And then far north, late in the day. Thursday, mainly dry here with
03:45showers northeast. But then Thursday night, Friday, the next best widespread chance. Hot, dry, but humid
03:52weekend. And then Monday, more storms. So there we go.
04:07Again, I'll see you guys.
