01 - June - national forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Hello, well there is plenty of fine and dry weather to come on Monday but low pressure
00:05is going to move in to make it unseasonably wet and windy through the evening. So take a look at
00:10the bigger picture we've actually got this ridge of higher pressure building in into Monday but
00:14out towards the west this is where we have this deep area of low pressure unseasonably strong winds
00:20especially across northwestern Scotland and into the Irish Sea 55 60 miles per hour is possible
00:26this cold front will bring some heavy spells of rain too before it gradually clears its way south
00:31and eastward so that's Monday night and into Tuesday so keep an eye on the forecast for that
00:37but back to the rest of this evening and overnight there's still a few showers around especially
00:42across northern Ireland, Scotland into northern England and parts of Wales but as that ridge
00:48builds most of the showers will start easing and it will be dry for most of us with lengthy clear skies
00:54there is even the chance of seeing the northern lights across northern parts of the UK tonight
01:00and it is going to be turning a little bit chilly especially across northern areas
01:04we could even see a touch of grass frost underneath the lighter winds
01:09so as we start Monday morning plenty of sunshine on offer dry for most of us there may be a few
01:14showers across parts of Wales but as we go into the afternoon the main focus is going to be across
01:19parts of Lincolnshire Yorkshire and East Anglia for some showers out towards the west plenty of sunshine
01:26but the sunshine will be turning increasingly hazy across northern Ireland and Scotland later as we
01:32see this area of low pressure arriving with a strengthening wind as well so it is generally going
01:39to be feeling quite cool here but in the sunshine especially across the south lighter winds and it
01:44should be feeling pleasant highs of 20 to 22 degrees so as we go through Monday evening and overnight we
01:52see this area of low pressures from the northwest moving its way through so bring some heavy spells of
01:57rain across northern Ireland Scotland then moving swiftly across the country accompanied like I said with
02:04some very strong and gusty winds ahead of that generally staying largely clear to start Tuesday morning but
02:12otherwise temperatures ranging from 9 to 11 degrees so as we start Tuesday morning it's going to be an
02:19unsettled start across the central swathe of the UK this band of rain will quickly move its way south
02:25and eastward perhaps lingering for the longest across the south and east then behind that well it's a case
02:32of sunny spells but frequent blustery showers especially across the north some of the showers could be heavy
02:39perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder but even falling perhaps as snow over the highest mountains
02:45in Scotland otherwise generally a cool feeling day especially in that breeze but if you do catch the
02:51sunshine especially across parts of the midlands and the southwest highs up to 18 to 20 or 21 degrees
02:59so there's quite a lot going on so make sure to stay tuned to the forecast and you can do that
03:03by subscribing to our youtube channel I'll catch you soon bye bye
