Hello, after a very wet and windy weekend, things will be settling down as higher pressure
00:06
builds. But before then, we still do have a squeeze in the isobars indicating some strong
00:12
and gusty winds, especially across the south of the UK. Higher pressure building across
00:17
the north, but we do have some frontal systems just moving through, bringing some cloud and
00:23
rain to Orkney and Shetland. But back to the rest of this evening and overnight, and we
00:29
still hold on to some strong north-easterly winds, bringing in a lot of cloud and rain
00:34
across much of England and Wales. Showers could be quite heavy at times across the far
00:38
south-east. But across Northern Ireland and Scotland, underneath the area of high pressure,
00:45
that's where we'll see the clearest skies, temperatures quickly falling away to give
00:49
a touch of frost to start Monday morning, and perhaps even some pockets of mist and
00:55
fog. So it's going to be a cold night here, but underneath the cloud and rain, and still
01:00
with the brisk winds, temperatures generally holding up at around five or six degrees.
01:07
So as we start Monday morning then, a cold but bright start across Scotland and Northern
01:12
Ireland, with plenty of winter sunshine throughout much of the day. Cloudier across much of England
01:18
and Wales, but there will be some breaks in the cloud, especially further towards the
01:22
west first thing. But the cloud will be thick enough for some patchy rain and drizzle, and
01:27
with some heavy showers just coming in to the south-east of England as we head into
01:32
the afternoon. The winds will be a notch down compared to what we saw over the weekend.
01:37
Still quite brisk, especially across the English Channel. Highs of around eight or nine degrees
01:42
in the south, but cold across Scotland, with temperatures struggling here in some places
01:47
to get above freezing. So as we go through Monday evening and overnight, we hold on to
01:53
a lot of cloud coming in from the North Sea, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, quite
01:58
heavy at times across the English Channel. Across Northern Ireland though, and across
02:03
Scotland once again, that's where we'll see the lengthiest clear skies, and temperatures
02:08
will quickly fall away to give a widespread frost, but also some mist and fog, some freezing
02:13
fog developing, especially across parts of Northern Ireland. So it's going to be a cold
02:19
night here across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but once again, underneath the blanket of
02:24
cloud across much of England and Wales, generally staying frost free, with lows around four
02:29
or five degrees. So a cold but a bright start across Scotland and Northern Ireland, with
02:36
plenty of winter sunshine. Cloudy across the far north of Scotland though, perhaps seeing
02:42
some patchy rain and drizzle later. But for most of England and Wales, it is going to
02:46
be largely dry, but often quite cloudy, with lighter winds compared to what we've seen
02:52
over recent days. Highs here eight or nine degrees, but cold in the north, with again
02:58
temperatures struggling here to get above freezing. So as we look ahead through the
03:04
week then, higher pressure will be becoming more established, but that does mean overnight
03:09
frost and fog too. For all of the details though, keep up to date by subscribing to
03:15
YouTube. I'll see you soon. Bye bye.
