Hello we've got a change in store as we go into the new week with the colder air
00:05
being replaced by something milder but often windy and without breaks of rain.
00:09
Having a look at the bigger picture at the moment though we're still in this
00:12
battleground with higher pressure towards the east low pressure out
00:15
towards the west and we'll start seeing frontal system moving their way through
00:19
but as we go more so Wednesday and into Thursday in particular that's where
00:24
we'll start drawing milder air from the south westerly winds so actually
00:28
temperatures really are going to be on the rise but look at the squeeze in the
00:32
ice bars it's often going to be windy out there as well with spells of rain
00:36
moving through. But back to the rest of this evening and overnight there are
00:41
spells of rain around especially across Northern Ireland to end the weekend
00:45
this band of rain will push its way north and eastwards into parts of
00:49
Western Scotland later as well and where it meets the cold air we could see some
00:54
wintry flurries over the hills. Across much of England and Wales though it's a
00:58
largely dry night to come often cloudy but we'll see some clear spells
01:02
developing and in any lengthy clear skies that's where we'll see
01:06
temperatures fall to give a touch of frost for some of us come Monday morning.
01:10
So as we go through Monday morning then there should be some brightness
01:14
especially across the southeast of England out towards the west often
01:19
holding on to a lot of grey skies once again but across western parts of
01:23
Scotland there'll still be a few wintry flurries and some showers affecting
01:27
Orkney and Shetland later but on the whole it is a largely dry Monday.
01:33
Still going to be feeling chilly out there though especially in the east and
01:36
underneath all this cloud out towards the west temperatures climbing eight or
01:40
nine degrees but often breezy here too. So as we go through Monday night in
01:46
particular we have heavy spells of rain moving across Northern Ireland so take
01:49
care during rush hour there could be spray on the roads as that moves its way
01:53
north and eastwards though and meets that colder air across Scotland that's
01:56
where we'll see the risk of freezing rain to give icy stretches and some snow as
02:01
well so keep up to date with the forecast on that but otherwise further
02:04
towards England and Wales it is a largely dry but often cloudy start to
02:10
Tuesday. There may be some mist and fog patches and also some frost as well but
02:15
on the whole most places are staying up at around zero or one degree. So as we
02:21
start Tuesday morning then it's an unsettled picture across Scotland with
02:25
freezing rain icy stretches and some snow and that will gradually move its
02:30
way north and eastwards and actually start easing so as we go into the
02:33
afternoon it should be turning at drier elsewhere across much of England and
02:38
Wales hazy spells of sunshine dry across Northern Ireland too but often cloudy
02:43
here but we still hold on to quite a brisk wind but otherwise temperatures
02:47
are just slightly up so less cold than what we've had in recent days highs of
02:52
up to 7 to 10 degrees but as we go into Wednesday and more so into Thursday
02:58
that's where the temperatures will really climb so we'll start to see most
03:01
of us in double digits up to 13 possibly up to 15 degrees as we go
03:07
through Thursday and Friday but for more details on all of that make sure to hit
