00:00You can still smell the smokiness in the air here in Sydney's inner west.
00:07Just after 4am this morning, emergency services were called to a home in the street behind me.
00:14That home was completely engulfed by flames.
00:1722 firefighters battled that blaze.
00:21Some of the firefighters were actually inside of the home when the roof collapsed.
00:26Luckily, they were all safe.
00:28But they managed to get that blaze under control in about 40 minutes.
00:34Really tragically, though, the body of one person was found inside of that building.
00:40And it's news that's really shocked the neighbourhood here today.
00:44Here's what one neighbour had to say.
00:46Oh, that's just shocking.
00:47I mean, I really thought it was just something innocent.
00:50Well, not innocent, but, you know, I thought somebody's doing something dodgy.
00:53Or that it was some kids messing around.
00:55And so I'm really shocked that it was a fire because I had no idea.
00:59The Fire and Rescue NSW first told us that there was one other person that was unaccounted for in this building.
01:06They've now updated us and told us that they're fairly sure that there is no one else that is in this building.
01:13But there is a crime scene that's been established behind me.
01:18And we've seen multiple police, fire crews and detectives move through the area this morning.
01:25And a report will be prepared for the coroner.
