A man dead and one woman taken to hospital after house fire in Hackham West

A man has died, and a woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries, after a house fire in Adelaide’s south. Investigations have ruled the cause of the fire as undetermined.

00:00 A devastating scene after a fire tore through a Hackenwest home this morning.

00:07 "Unfortunately found a person on a bed inside and we've removed that person and placed them in the care of the ambulance people."

00:19 Firefighters were called to Amsterdam Street around 8.30am and arrived to find the front room of the house engulfed in flames.

00:27 A 61-year-old man was pulled out of the burning property but died at the scene.

00:33 "I saw them carrying a deceased man out so I put him on the lawn and did CPR."

00:39 The other occupant, a 46-year-old woman, escaped through a window and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

00:47 "I just heard an explosion when I was in the kitchen and looked out the lounge room window and a tonne of smoke was already happening."

00:57 The occupants pets, two dogs and two cats were also killed in the blaze. Its cause has been deemed undetermined.
