Body found after house fire in Toowoomba

Queensland police are investigating a suspicious house fire that has killed one person at a rural property near Toowoomba, west of Brisbane. A 45-year-old man was found at Redcliff this afternoon and is helping police with their inquiry.

00:06Crews found human remains at a house at GM about 20 kilometres north of Toowoomba

00:11after being called to a house fully engulfed in flames before 3am.

00:16Police have declared a crime scene as they work to identify the victim and cause of the blaze.

00:22Further scientific and extensive forensic examination needs to occur at that particular scene.

00:28Until that scene is rendered obviously safe before we can allow people into that residence.

00:33Two children were found at the property at the time of the fire.

00:36They're safe and well and doing well. I believe there was no hospitalisation on the children.

00:41And all I can say at this point in time are the young children within that house.

00:45A 45 year old man was located at Redcliffe earlier this afternoon

00:49and he's been brought to the Toowoomba police station as part of the ongoing investigation.

00:54Officers are trying to speak to anyone who may have been at the GM property last night.

00:59There's other relatives that we have spoken to at this point in time.

01:03Parents obviously we haven't been able to speak to at this point in time

01:06and those investigations are moving forward.

01:08Homicide detectives have been called in from Brisbane to help with the case.
