Man fatally stabbed at Brisbane shopping centre

Queensland police are reviewing security footage and searching for a suspect, as they investigate a fatal stabbing at a shopping centre, west of Brisbane. A 70-year-old grandmother died after being attacked in a violent carpark robbery at Redbank plains in Ipswich on Saturday night.

00:00 Police arrived at the scene here just after 6 o'clock yesterday evening where they found

00:06 a 70-year-old woman lying in a pool of blood.

00:09 Some bystanders had attempted first aid but unfortunately she couldn't be saved.

00:14 Police say she'd just finished her grocery shopping and was at her car when she was stabbed

00:19 in the chest in front of her young granddaughter.

00:22 They're reviewing CCTV and interviewing witnesses trying to piece together how this incident

00:34 Look the locals that I've spoken to are just shocked.

00:37 They feel like this attack could have happened to anyone and even senior police say, reviewing

00:41 the footage, they're taken aback by just the level of violence.

00:45 It's not just the local community that's feeling shaken though.

00:48 Queensland Premier Stephen Miles spoke just a moment ago.

00:58 A crime committed, it sounds like, in front of a very young relative of the victim.

01:12 He says he's seen some confronting scenes during his time as a doctor but none quite

01:20 I tried to do what I could do in that situation.

01:25 In a situation like that, just do your best.

01:31 And no arrests have been made yet, have they?

01:37 That's right.

01:38 Police are still searching for the person who could have done this.

01:41 They're imploring anybody who has information to come forward.

01:45 They say that someone must know something that could help with the investigation.
