00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05There are some subtle changes in our weather today, all due to the orientation of the wind,
00:10which will make it feel cooler along the east coast.
00:13But for the whole country, high pressure is certainly dominating.
00:17It's really the flow around this high which is allowing for these temperatures to struggle a little bit towards the east there.
00:24And that's the case probably for the rest of the week.
00:27And by night, more cloud just drifting in from the North Sea.
00:32Through this morning then, one or two showers can't be roared out across Devon and Cornwall.
00:36For the bulk of England, Wales, as well as Northern Ireland, some fine weather coming through, some blue sky and sunshine.
00:41We're running to this low cloud though, northeast England down towards east Yorkshire borders as well as the central belt.
00:48This cloud is thick at times in places, but it will fade through the day.
00:53Fine to start the day across central and northern areas of Scotland.
00:55A bit cool across the glens though, first thing.
00:58Now through the morning, we watch as this cloud gradually breaks as it drifts southwards.
01:04And that means by around mid-morning, even this zone here will be bathed in some lovely mid-May sunshine.
01:11Through the day, the cloud could build across one or two spots towards the west country.
01:14You could see one or two showers here, which could turn heavy.
01:17They'd be fairly scattered.
01:18And also some heavy showers, which could turn thundery for the Republic of Ireland.
01:23Here are your temperatures through the afternoon then.
01:2522 for the western side of Scotland.
01:2718 for Northern Ireland.
01:2821 to 23 for Wales.
01:3124 down towards the southeast of England.
01:34But along this east coast, probably around the mid-teens.
01:3717 or 18 for Norfolk and Suffolk.
01:40So yes, a real contrast in temperature.
01:42But where you see that sunshine, it will be high UV levels.
01:46Now through this evening and overnight, not a lot of change.
01:50Again, with the flow coming in from the North Sea, you could see more cloud across the eastern strip of Scotland.
01:55And moving in across the Midlands, eastern counties of England.
01:59Now a bit of a cooler start to the day come Thursday further west.
02:03But certainly west will be best in terms of sunshine, strong sunshine at that.
02:08But the cloud will break elsewhere, allowing for some fine weather through the afternoon on Thursday.
02:13Contrasting temperature though, still the 20s where you see the sunshine in the west.
02:16And here's your outlook for Friday.
02:18It's a similar setup, a similar mechanism to our weather with that breeze coming in from the North Sea.
02:24And the cloud could be a bit stubborn on this east coast through the afternoon, fine further west.
02:29Wherever you are, have a lovely day.
02:30I'll see you again soon.
