We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about Ozempic and whether they have positive or negative associations with the drug and others of its kind.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Bertz, and today I'm out in the streets of Manchester asking people about weight loss injections.
00:06And that's because the benefits of things like Ozempic have now been discussed quite a lot in recent months, and the drawbacks have been discussed too.
00:13We want to know whether people see it as a bit of a shortcut to losing weight, whether they worry that it could be a way of encouraging more lazy behaviour,
00:20or whether they think that the health benefits far outweigh the risks.
00:23But is it safe? Don't know. Interesting times we live in.
00:26If people are to be pushed towards taking drugs as the first option to losing weight, definitely there's that situation where people lose weight,
00:35or need to lose weight, or have trouble losing weight because of, like, either thyroid issues and stuff.
00:40In general, I think it's, I'm uncomfortable in pharmaceuticals, it's used immediately as the answer for stuff.
00:45I would just worry about people becoming addicted to it, really.
00:49Like, you know, you've got kind of these, like, diets that are sensationalised on social media and stuff,
00:54and I just wonder if it's sort of become, like, the next kind of trend that people go under.
