00:12University of Malaya's Awang As Mampawi and Bil Cherbala of University of Malaysia Sabah

00:18said the federal government has been able to function well

00:21even though Barisan Nacional and Warisan sit as the opposition

00:25in the Sabah Legislative Assembly presently.

00:28They said this is due to Sabah's distinct political landscape

00:31which is dominated by local parties.

00:33Bil Cher said Sabah's dynamic political environment makes it necessary for parties in the unity government

00:40to take a more flexible approach in forming the Sabah government.

00:44Awang Azman said mutual understanding and respect within the unity government

00:48have helped bridge the differences in the political setups between the state and federal levels.

00:53Last week, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Deputy Secretary General Armizan Muhammad Ali

00:58said Sabah should not be forced to replicate the federal government's unity model

01:02in its upcoming state election.

01:04He said the memorandum of understanding signed by five political coalitions and parties in 2022

01:09pertains solely to cooperation in forming the federal government.
