00:00The government today confirmed that Abdul Qadir Din resigned from his posts at private water and waste management-related firms before he was appointed as chairman of the National Water Services Commission.

00:15The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry said that resigning from these posts was mandatory for appointment to the position.

00:24It also said that Qadir had stepped down several years ago as advisor to Randhill Holdings Berhad.

00:32The ministry noted the non-executive nature of the chairman's role at SPAN, saying Qadir had no authority to make executive decisions unilaterally.

00:43Bersatu MP1 Saiful Wan Zhan had raised concerns over a possible conflict of interest in the governance of the water sector following Qadir's appointment.

00:53The Dasig Golugor MP asked if Qadir had relinquished all other positions that might overlap with his new role.
