Vatican issues special stamp to mark the "Sede Vacante"
The Vatican post office on Monday, April 28, issued a special edition stamp to mark the period when there is no pope in office, known as the "Sede Vacante,” two days after the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday, April 26.
The "Sede Vacante" or "empty chair" stamp is traditionally issued during the period between popes and will be available until a new pope is chosen in the conclave.
Roman Catholic cardinals will begin their secret conclave to elect the new leader of the global Church on May 7, the Vatican said on Monday.
