Hundreds gather at St. Peter's Basilica for glimpse of Pope Francis' body
Mourners pay their final respects on April 24, 2025 to Pope Francis, whose body lies in state in St. Peter's Basilica ahead of his funeral on Saturday, April 26. The viewing started on April 23 and the Vatican had expected to close the doors at midnight, but ended up letting the faithful in until 5:30 a.m. (0330 GMT), before reopening again at 7 a.m. (0500 GMT).
