Pope Francis' coffin sealed in private ceremony after public viewings end
The coffin of Pope Francis was sealed on Friday evening, April 25, after thousands of faithful visited on the final day of viewing.
Known in the church as the Rite of the Closing of the Coffin of the Roman Pontiff, the sealing ceremony was held by Archbishop Diego Ravelli and Cardinal Kevin Farrell in St. Peter's Basilica.
More than 100,000 mourners filed into St. Peter's Basilica earlier on Friday to pay their respects to Pope Francis, viewing his open coffin in the final visiting hours ahead of his funeral on Saturday, April 26.
