Bijnor: A 25-year-old woman was shot dead in broad daylight by a man allegedly upset over her impending marriage. The incident occurred in the Kotwali Dehat area on Sunday.
The accused, Shivang Tyagi, shot Bhavna while she was riding with her father near Badhapur village. Both were residents of Karonda Chaudhary village. Bhavna’s father rushed her to a nearby primary health centre, where doctors declared her dead.
Tyagi later surrendered to the police and handed over the pistol used in the crime. During interrogation, he confessed to killing Bhavna, claiming they had studied together and he was upset over her marriage scheduled for May 1.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and initiated further investigation.
