00:00In the news overseas, a senior U.S. official defends Trump's foreign policy during a Southeast Asia visit.

00:06Sean O'Neill, the senior bureau official for East Asian and Pacific Affairs,

00:10stated that the United States will pursue a foreign policy that makes the nation safer, stronger, and more prosperous.

00:18O'Neill is currently in Cambodia for the 37th ASEAN-U.S. dialogue,

00:22marking the first visit by a U.S. official to Southeast Asia

00:25since Washington announced punitive tariffs on countries in the region earlier this week.

00:31Cambodia's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Kung Phok, who co-chairs the meeting,

00:35said the dialogue serves as a chance to work more meaningfully together,

00:39emphasizing the need for both sides to stay firmly committed to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation.

00:46The U.S. State Department said the visit is aimed at strengthening U.S.-ASEan ties

00:50and supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific that advances shared interests and safety,

00:55security, security, and prosperity.
