00:00The Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, reacts to China's allegation that the Philippines

00:06is causing more tension in the region due to the presence of a U.S. missile system in

00:11the country.

00:12Meanwhile, a more creative way of combating misinformation on the West Philippine Sea

00:16issue is launched.

00:18What that is, Rod Laguzad reveals in this report.

00:24The mid-range capability or Type 1 missile system of the United States will remain in

00:28the country.

00:29This was emphasized by National Security Advisor Secretary Eduardo Año after its relocation

00:35to an undisclosed area from its initial site.

00:38The said missile system has the capability to launch Standard Missile 6 and Tomahawk

00:42land-attack missiles with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers or more.

00:47According to AP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margaret Padilla, the U.S. missile system is

01:47as well.

01:48She explained the undisclosed location is part of the operational details to ensure

01:51the security of the asset.

01:53She emphasized that this is not in preparation for an attack but rather a measure to enhance

01:57the country's defense.

01:59China, meanwhile, reiterated its call for the Philippines to pull out the deployment

02:02of the said missile system.

02:04China said the Philippines is creating tension in the region and provoking geopolitical confrontation

02:10and an arms race.

02:11It also added the decision of the government is dangerous and irresponsible for its people

02:16and other Southeast Asian nations.

02:18The AAP, however, stressed that no one can dictate how the Philippines handle its defense.

02:23Meanwhile, as the country continues asserting its

02:45rights over the West Philippine Sea, a comic book entitled Ang Mga Kwento ni Teacher June

02:49was launched.

02:50Its goal is to combat misinformation on the issue and provide accurate information to

02:54help more Filipinos understand matters related to the West Philippine Sea.

02:58According to PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore Jay Tariella, no

03:03government funds were used in creating the book.

03:05The National Library of the Philippines received copies of the book which will be distributed

03:09to public libraries.
