Hi everyone, it's Alexis Zarecki here, the Digital Program Director of Beasley
00:06
Media Group in Charlotte, and today I'm going to show you how to do an event
00:10
page listing. Now we're going to do this event page listing today on Power 98,
00:14
which is one of our urban stations here in Charlotte. Now to start off you're
00:18
going to be on your dashboard, so this is what your dashboard will look like, and
00:21
you're going to go over to the new section and you will scroll down and see
00:25
the word event. Click on this and it will open a brand new event page listing. Now
00:32
event page listings are very similar to how blogs are created, how galleries are
00:37
created. You need to make sure there is a title and then some information in your
00:42
body of work. Now I'm going to use an event that we have going on here in
00:46
Charlotte during the time, but I have already pre kind of worked this out and
00:51
we're going to go along and kind of fill out the rest of the information on how
00:54
to make an event. So this event is called Loso Live at Queen Park Social. The same
01:00
thing applies again like when you do a blog or gallery, but you need to make
01:04
sure that there is a title. So make sure your title is in, don't make it crazy long,
01:09
but make sure your URL matches your title as well. Now at the bottom you're going to
01:16
put in what this event is about. This is about an event that we have
01:21
happening every single Thursday from 6 to 8 and actually today, which is July 29,
01:27
2021, we have a special guest that's happening. Now with this event, and I
01:34
wanted to show you this specifically, but this is a longer running event, right? So
01:40
this isn't just a one-day event, which is going to make it a little bit more
01:44
special when we end up publishing and making an end date, which we'll get to. Now
01:51
if you see this right here, this is actually a sign-up code widget. You can
01:55
get it from Second Street. I like to add them in here because if I'm having people
01:59
come to my event page, I want to hopefully get them to sign up for the
02:03
newsletter as well. You'll see what this looks like, but you can grab your own
02:06
little widget code from your Second Street account if you're the program director
02:12
for digital or if you are the promotions assistant or maybe even the marketing
02:17
promotions director. You'll be able to find this and I highly suggest putting it
02:22
into your event pages when you create them. So once you have a title, you have
02:27
your body, you're going to scroll down and you're going to see a date, a time,
02:31
right? A location. For this date, it actually is today, the 29th, and it is from 6 to 8 p.m.
02:40
So I'm going to change the times. However, this event doesn't just happen
02:44
today. It's going to actually go to, I believe it was September 30th. So I'm
02:53
going to make this, or I'm sorry, September 24th. I knew it was a Thursday. Or no, it
02:57
wasn't 30th. So we're going to put it to September 30th. Now I will go back in
03:03
every single week and change the sentence about the artist, but this is a long
03:08
running event, right? So it's on every Thursday and that's clearly stated. So
03:12
I'm going to make the end date the 30th. Make sure though, if this was to end
03:17
today, you pick that date or whatever date it is ending. And if it's just like an
03:23
all day event, you can hit that as well. Now for the venue, this is going to be at
03:29
a local venue that we have called Queen Park Social. If you hit edit venue, I'm
03:34
going to hit edit and I'm going to open in a new tab. You'll be able to see, you can
03:38
do the same thing. You can put info about the location if you would like, and you
03:44
can fix their address. So if a place moves, maybe you want to put the website in
03:49
here, maybe their phone number, whatever you would like to do. We do not put the
03:54
phone number or website at this time in our event postings, but you can. And if
04:00
somebody clicks, they'll have more information about where the location is
04:04
that you decided, that you picked and the listener decided to go to. But I'm
04:12
just going to hit update and we can go back here. And again, I selected that
04:16
venue. If the venue wasn't in there, you can hit create and you'll be able to do
04:20
like I just said, hit edit venue and so on and so forth. There's no organizer for
04:26
this. So we're going to leave that out. But there is a URL for the event website,
04:31
which is the Queen Park Social, who is the sponsor of this event. This event is
04:35
free, so there is no cost. But let's just say you were selling tickets to a revenue
04:42
share event or maybe you were selling tickets to a concert event. You can just
04:45
put your amount in there and save it as well. If you scroll down, we're going to do
04:51
again, like the blogs, like the galleries, right? We're going to just pick a keyword.
04:57
This I'm going to pick Queen Park Social and it probably would work. Queen Park
05:02
works. Perfect. I got it in the orange. And then you're going to put again a little
05:06
bit about the event for your SEO. Now, if you scroll over to the side, this is the
05:14
very important part about picking a start date and end date for your events because
05:18
we do schedule things out with events, but also making sure that we give the
05:23
sponsor material as well. So I'm going to make this event expire on September 30th,
05:31
2021 at 2359. With our sites, with WordPress, we work in military time when it comes to
05:39
publishing and expiring. So this literally means 1159 p.m. on that day. Hit OK. This
05:45
will leave on that day that will no longer be able to be seen by the public. You want
05:51
to make sure that all of your events have end dates. If you do not, they will still be
05:55
up on your event page listing, which I will show you at the end of this video. Tags. I'm
06:01
just going to put this as local. I'm going to put it at Queen Park Social and I'm just
06:06
going to put Loso Live. Don't get crazy with your tags, but including some is important for
06:11
your SEO search engine. There's no show associated with this, but there is an event category.
06:17
This is all events. It is an event and it actually is a concert as well. So make sure
06:22
to hit whatever events that your category goes into. As you can see, this is the Core's
06:28
Big Event Guide. We used to have an event guide for that and we used to have an event guide
06:33
for some of our local football games as well. Now, if you scroll down, you'll be able to,
06:39
again, pick your featured image. For this one, there was a graphic that was designed,
06:44
so I uploaded it and hit feature image and it uploads. Now, finally, the branded content
06:51
sponsorship setting. Automatically, it will say sponsored by, but you need to put in a sponsor's
06:56
name and URL when you're making an event. If it is something that you're just hosting yourself,
07:02
of course, you don't have to put that on. But if it's something where you have a co-branded
07:06
partner or if Live Nation gives you some concerts, you need to put that in. So just type the name
07:12
and then put the URL to wherever the location is, wherever the sponsor's website is. If you
07:18
do not have access to this, please email Jennifer Williams and or Erica Beasley and they can get
07:25
you that information to put that on your sites. Now, everything's done. This is good to go. So I'm
07:32
going to hit publish. Once your event is published, you can preview it right here. You can take a look
07:38
at it. And I just want to show you where all those elements are that we put, right? So here's the title.
07:43
It's under the event category. Here's the times, right? This is going from the 29th to the 30th.
07:48
Here is the location. If I wanted to, Google Maps, I could pull it up and it would show me where that
07:54
is according to my location, which is very helpful for listeners, right? And it keeps us on our sites.
08:01
The date, right? And then here's our picture and here is all the information. Again, I put every
08:07
Thursday so people know. And here's that code, right? So this is a newsletter code. Again, I highly
08:13
recommend doing this when you do any event just because, again, you can try and get someone to
08:18
sign up for your newsletter. And that's one of our goals. And it will be very beneficial to you.
08:24
Here are our tags. Now, if you go to the side of your sites on your side tab, you'll be able to see
08:30
all the events that you put up, right? And they're all in chronological order. So this one was actually
08:35
yesterday. This is another example, like I said, of why you always need to have an end date if it
08:41
doesn't go further. But this does go to the 29th. So that's great. So it will be up again for another
08:46
day. But here you go. Here's your listing, right? And people can scroll into your events
08:51
and see every single thing that you have. So that is how you create an event listing. Again,
08:58
if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
