Today, Rupert looks after George, the little dragon, which is more difficult than he expects,
00:13
in Rupert and the Hiccuping Dragon.
00:17
There's a little bear, like you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.
00:23
Children everywhere, so to love him more and more, he's the number one.
00:31
There's a million stories to be told, of the things that he's done.
00:38
And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.
00:45
Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.
00:50
Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join, in all of his game.
01:06
It's a lovely morning, and Rupert is busy helping Mr. Bear in the garden.
01:12
All right, says Mr. Bear, I think the wheelbarrow's full enough now.
01:16
Rupert trundles it carefully down the garden path, when...
01:22
Squeaks George, the little dragon.
01:25
Oh, I am sorry, says Rupert, rubbing the little dragon's paw.
01:30
I didn't see you there.
01:32
Hello, Pong Ping, he adds as the little peep hurries into the garden after George.
01:37
Hello, Rupert, could you do me a great favor?
01:42
Why, yes, if I can.
01:44
Well, would you look after George for me, just for a little while, he adds.
01:49
But I have to go into town.
01:52
Now, please, please keep him outside, says Mrs. Bear nervously.
01:56
George behaves beautifully at first, and follows Rupert and the wheelbarrow up and down the path,
02:04
until he spots Mr. Bear's pipe.
02:09
Oh, that's funny, says Mr. Bear.
02:12
Where's my pipe gone?
02:14
I'm sure I put it there.
02:16
Rupert swings round.
02:18
Alas, too late.
02:21
Oh, dear, George has eaten it.
02:24
But, Mr. Bear is not pleased at all, and neither is George, for he now has hiccups.
02:36
The more he hiccups, the more he puffs.
02:43
Oh, do take him away, he's scorching my snapdragons, cries Mr. Bear.
02:49
So Rupert takes him indoors.
02:51
But,
02:51
Oh, Rupert, not in here, he's scorching the carpet, says Mrs. Bear, coughing.
03:00
Quick, bring him into the kitchen, and give him a glass of water.
03:04
Which doesn't help at all.
03:10
Try holding your breath, suggests Rupert, while I count to twenty.
03:15
One, two, three, four, five.
03:22
Hello, Rupert, calls Pudgy cheerfully at the door.
03:26
Hello, says Rupert, forgetting to count.
03:29
Are you coming out to play on the common?
03:31
Pudgy asks.
03:32
Bill and Edward want to play secret service.
03:36
George is still holding his breath.
03:37
Let's play, um, oh, you poor little dragon.
03:44
For George has now turned bright purple.
03:47
Oh, you can breathe now.
03:50
George lets go with a deep sigh.
03:52
My mummy always gives me a spoonful of sugar.
04:04
Try that, suggests Pudgy.
04:07
All right.
04:08
Rupert holds out the spoon.
04:11
There, says Pudgy proudly.
04:13
You see?
04:13
Pudgy is disappointed.
04:20
I expect dragons are different to people.
04:25
Why, that's it.
04:26
We'll take him to see his mother.
04:28
Come on.
04:31
She lives with the Emperor of Games.
04:34
Heep, heep, heep, says the little dragon,
04:39
pointing his nose over the side.
04:42
So Rupert follows George's nose.
04:44
On and on the chariot goes.
04:47
Over Nutwood, and further still,
04:49
over valley and over hill,
04:52
following the nose of the little rascal
04:54
towards the Games' Emperor's castle.
04:58
Heep, heep, heep, heep.
05:02
At length, they reach the Emperor's castle gates.
05:06
Why, Rupert, the Emperor will be pleased to see you,
05:09
cries the sentry,
05:10
flinging open the gates for the astonished little bear.
05:13
That's funny, he says as they land.
05:16
But the Emperor seems to be expecting us.
05:19
The little dragon rushes into the castle,
05:22
with Rupert and Pudgy close behind.
05:24
This is a giant chess board,
05:26
Rupert explains to Pudgy,
05:28
and the Emperor plays chess with real people.
05:31
Look, there's the White Queen.
05:33
Good morning, Your Majesty.
05:35
Oh, Rupert, cries the White Queen.
05:39
The Emperor will be pleased to see you.
05:42
He has been unable to play chess for days, she adds.
05:45
He's been so worried.
05:47
So I've been knitting a scarf.
05:49
Do you like it?
05:50
Oh, yes, it's lovely, he says politely.
05:54
It's yours, then.
05:55
Oh, well, thank you, says Rupert,
05:59
as she puts it round his neck.
06:01
It's very, very long,
06:02
and Rupert finds it rather difficult to walk.
06:08
Oh, sorry, says Pudgy, standing on it by mistake.
06:13
Who's that, Rupert? he whispers,
06:16
pointing to a man sitting with his feet in a bowl of water.
06:19
That's the Black King, Rupert explains.
06:22
His feet hurt because he's always standing.
06:26
Follow me, orders the White Queen.
06:32
The Emperor is sitting sadly at the entrance to a cave,
06:36
nursing a dragon's head in his lap.
06:40
Rupert!
06:41
But, but how did you know?
06:44
Mother Dragon is ill, explains the Emperor.
06:47
Her fire has gone out,
06:49
and we have been unable to light it for her,
06:52
and I thought you might be able to help.
06:54
You have a way with dragons.
06:57
Me?
06:58
Rupert is surprised.
07:00
Poor George is most upset,
07:02
and hiccups more than ever,
07:04
rushing round his mother, blowing out smoke.
07:07
He blows out so much smoke,
07:09
that sun goes up his mother's nose,
07:11
and...
07:11
She sneezes so loudly and so suddenly
07:17
that both Rupert and George leap up into the air,
07:20
startled out of their wits,
07:22
and George stops hiccoughing.
07:25
The dragon's fire is alight, cries the Emperor.
07:30
Oh, thank you, Rupert.
07:32
You have cured my favourite dragon.
07:35
Oh, but it wasn't really me,
07:36
predests Rupert.
07:37
It was George.
07:38
Oh, but you brought George,
07:41
explains the Emperor delightedly.
07:44
Rupert looks round.
07:46
Where's Podgy?
07:48
I expect he's helping the White Queen.
07:51
She is preparing a small snack
07:53
to refresh you after your long journey.
07:55
I haven't seen Podgy
07:57
since you both went towards the dragon's cave,
07:59
says the White Queen.
08:02
Excuse me, Your Majesty.
08:03
Have you seen my friend Podgy?
08:05
Rupert asks the Black King.
08:07
No.
08:08
Oh, my poor feet.
08:10
Bless you.
08:12
Both Rupert and the Black King
08:14
cry simultaneously.
08:16
Oh, I thought it was you.
08:18
No, says Rupert.
08:20
I thought it was you.
08:22
Ah, tishu.
08:23
Oh, it's coming from the Black Castle.
08:26
Rupert runs towards it
08:27
and opens the door.
08:32
Podgy!
08:36
That's where the Emperor
08:37
keeps the Black Pepper
08:38
for his dragons,
08:40
explains the Black King,
08:41
handing Podgy
08:42
a large black handkerchief.
08:44
Oh, does he keep the White Pepper
08:47
in the White Castle, then?
08:48
asks Rupert.
08:50
Yes, that's right.
08:51
But, Podgy,
08:53
what are you doing in there?
08:56
Where's the big dragon?
08:59
She's outside, of course,
09:02
chuckles Rupert.
09:03
Come and have something to eat,
09:05
calls the Emperor.
09:06
Rupert and Podgy
09:07
hurry over to the table.
09:08
In view of your excellent work here, Rupert,
09:11
he continues.
09:12
And as George
09:14
ate your illustrious father's pipe,
09:16
I would be honoured
09:17
if you would accept
09:18
this humble gift.
09:20
And the Emperor
09:21
holds out
09:22
a beautifully carved pipe.
09:26
Rupert's pleased.
09:27
It's just what Daddy needs.
09:32
I'll go and get George.
09:35
The little dragon
09:36
is sitting beside his mother,
09:38
who is purring contentedly
09:40
like a giant kettle.
09:41
Come on, George,
09:43
says Rupert.
09:45
Goodbye, Mother Dragon.
09:46
As Rupert's chariot
09:58
lands in his garden,
10:00
Kong Ping
10:01
hurries up the garden path.
10:03
We've been to see
10:04
George's mother,
10:05
Rupert explains.
10:06
And the Emperor
10:07
gave me this for you, Daddy,
10:08
he continues.
10:10
Mr Bear is pleased.
10:12
What a lovely pipe.
10:14
It's just what I need.
10:16
Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:36
everyone's in his name.
10:40
Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:43
everyone's come and join
10:46
in all of his games.
10:51
Rupert, Rupert the Bell,
10:53
everyone's come and join
10:56
in all of his games.
