00:00Today, Rupert looks after George, the little dragon, which is more difficult than he expects,

00:13in Rupert and the Hiccuping Dragon.

00:17There's a little bear, like you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.

00:23Children everywhere, so to love him more and more, he's the number one.

00:31There's a million stories to be told, of the things that he's done.

00:38And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:45Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

00:50Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join, in all of his game.

01:06It's a lovely morning, and Rupert is busy helping Mr. Bear in the garden.

01:12All right, says Mr. Bear, I think the wheelbarrow's full enough now.

01:16Rupert trundles it carefully down the garden path, when...

01:22Squeaks George, the little dragon.

01:25Oh, I am sorry, says Rupert, rubbing the little dragon's paw.

01:30I didn't see you there.

01:32Hello, Pong Ping, he adds as the little peep hurries into the garden after George.

01:37Hello, Rupert, could you do me a great favor?

01:42Why, yes, if I can.

01:44Well, would you look after George for me, just for a little while, he adds.

01:49But I have to go into town.

01:52Now, please, please keep him outside, says Mrs. Bear nervously.

01:56George behaves beautifully at first, and follows Rupert and the wheelbarrow up and down the path,

02:04until he spots Mr. Bear's pipe.

02:09Oh, that's funny, says Mr. Bear.

02:12Where's my pipe gone?

02:14I'm sure I put it there.

02:16Rupert swings round.

02:18Alas, too late.

02:21Oh, dear, George has eaten it.

02:24But, Mr. Bear is not pleased at all, and neither is George, for he now has hiccups.

02:36The more he hiccups, the more he puffs.

02:43Oh, do take him away, he's scorching my snapdragons, cries Mr. Bear.

02:49So Rupert takes him indoors.

02:51But,

02:51Oh, Rupert, not in here, he's scorching the carpet, says Mrs. Bear, coughing.

03:00Quick, bring him into the kitchen, and give him a glass of water.

03:04Which doesn't help at all.

03:10Try holding your breath, suggests Rupert, while I count to twenty.

03:15One, two, three, four, five.

03:22Hello, Rupert, calls Pudgy cheerfully at the door.

03:26Hello, says Rupert, forgetting to count.

03:29Are you coming out to play on the common?

03:31Pudgy asks.

03:32Bill and Edward want to play secret service.

03:36George is still holding his breath.

03:37Let's play, um, oh, you poor little dragon.

03:44For George has now turned bright purple.

03:47Oh, you can breathe now.

03:50George lets go with a deep sigh.

03:52My mummy always gives me a spoonful of sugar.

04:04Try that, suggests Pudgy.

04:07All right.

04:08Rupert holds out the spoon.

04:11There, says Pudgy proudly.

04:13You see?

04:13Pudgy is disappointed.

04:20I expect dragons are different to people.

04:25Why, that's it.

04:26We'll take him to see his mother.

04:28Come on.

04:31She lives with the Emperor of Games.

04:34Heep, heep, heep, says the little dragon,

04:39pointing his nose over the side.

04:42So Rupert follows George's nose.

04:44On and on the chariot goes.

04:47Over Nutwood, and further still,

04:49over valley and over hill,

04:52following the nose of the little rascal

04:54towards the Games' Emperor's castle.

04:58Heep, heep, heep, heep.

05:02At length, they reach the Emperor's castle gates.

05:06Why, Rupert, the Emperor will be pleased to see you,

05:09cries the sentry,

05:10flinging open the gates for the astonished little bear.

05:13That's funny, he says as they land.

05:16But the Emperor seems to be expecting us.

05:19The little dragon rushes into the castle,

05:22with Rupert and Pudgy close behind.

05:24This is a giant chess board,

05:26Rupert explains to Pudgy,

05:28and the Emperor plays chess with real people.

05:31Look, there's the White Queen.

05:33Good morning, Your Majesty.

05:35Oh, Rupert, cries the White Queen.

05:39The Emperor will be pleased to see you.

05:42He has been unable to play chess for days, she adds.

05:45He's been so worried.

05:47So I've been knitting a scarf.

05:49Do you like it?

05:50Oh, yes, it's lovely, he says politely.

05:54It's yours, then.

05:55Oh, well, thank you, says Rupert,

05:59as she puts it round his neck.

06:01It's very, very long,

06:02and Rupert finds it rather difficult to walk.

06:08Oh, sorry, says Pudgy, standing on it by mistake.

06:13Who's that, Rupert? he whispers,

06:16pointing to a man sitting with his feet in a bowl of water.

06:19That's the Black King, Rupert explains.

06:22His feet hurt because he's always standing.

06:26Follow me, orders the White Queen.

06:32The Emperor is sitting sadly at the entrance to a cave,

06:36nursing a dragon's head in his lap.

06:40Rupert!

06:41But, but how did you know?

06:44Mother Dragon is ill, explains the Emperor.

06:47Her fire has gone out,

06:49and we have been unable to light it for her,

06:52and I thought you might be able to help.

06:54You have a way with dragons.

06:57Me?

06:58Rupert is surprised.

07:00Poor George is most upset,

07:02and hiccups more than ever,

07:04rushing round his mother, blowing out smoke.

07:07He blows out so much smoke,

07:09that sun goes up his mother's nose,

07:11and...

07:11She sneezes so loudly and so suddenly

07:17that both Rupert and George leap up into the air,

07:20startled out of their wits,

07:22and George stops hiccoughing.

07:25The dragon's fire is alight, cries the Emperor.

07:30Oh, thank you, Rupert.

07:32You have cured my favourite dragon.

07:35Oh, but it wasn't really me,

07:36predests Rupert.

07:37It was George.

07:38Oh, but you brought George,

07:41explains the Emperor delightedly.

07:44Rupert looks round.

07:46Where's Podgy?

07:48I expect he's helping the White Queen.

07:51She is preparing a small snack

07:53to refresh you after your long journey.

07:55I haven't seen Podgy

07:57since you both went towards the dragon's cave,

07:59says the White Queen.

08:02Excuse me, Your Majesty.

08:03Have you seen my friend Podgy?

08:05Rupert asks the Black King.

08:07No.

08:08Oh, my poor feet.

08:10Bless you.

08:12Both Rupert and the Black King

08:14cry simultaneously.

08:16Oh, I thought it was you.

08:18No, says Rupert.

08:20I thought it was you.

08:22Ah, tishu.

08:23Oh, it's coming from the Black Castle.

08:26Rupert runs towards it

08:27and opens the door.

08:32Podgy!

08:36That's where the Emperor

08:37keeps the Black Pepper

08:38for his dragons,

08:40explains the Black King,

08:41handing Podgy

08:42a large black handkerchief.

08:44Oh, does he keep the White Pepper

08:47in the White Castle, then?

08:48asks Rupert.

08:50Yes, that's right.

08:51But, Podgy,

08:53what are you doing in there?

08:56Where's the big dragon?

08:59She's outside, of course,

09:02chuckles Rupert.

09:03Come and have something to eat,

09:05calls the Emperor.

09:06Rupert and Podgy

09:07hurry over to the table.

09:08In view of your excellent work here, Rupert,

09:11he continues.

09:12And as George

09:14ate your illustrious father's pipe,

09:16I would be honoured

09:17if you would accept

09:18this humble gift.

09:20And the Emperor

09:21holds out

09:22a beautifully carved pipe.

09:26Rupert's pleased.

09:27It's just what Daddy needs.

09:32I'll go and get George.

09:35The little dragon

09:36is sitting beside his mother,

09:38who is purring contentedly

09:40like a giant kettle.

09:41Come on, George,

09:43says Rupert.

09:45Goodbye, Mother Dragon.

09:46As Rupert's chariot

09:58lands in his garden,

10:00Kong Ping

10:01hurries up the garden path.

10:03We've been to see

10:04George's mother,

10:05Rupert explains.

10:06And the Emperor

10:07gave me this for you, Daddy,

10:08he continues.

10:10Mr Bear is pleased.

10:12What a lovely pipe.

10:14It's just what I need.
