00:00Today, Rupert bakes a cake, and is almost baked himself, in Rupert and the Giant Pancake.

00:17There's a little bear, like you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.

00:23Children everywhere, go to love him more and more, he's the number one.

00:31There's a million stories to be told, of the things that he's done.

00:37And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

00:51Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join, in all of his name.

01:06Mummy, Mummy, do you know what day it is today? shouts Rupert hurrying in.

01:12Why, of course, it's Shrove Tuesday, says Mrs Bear.

01:16Yes, Pancake Day, says Rupert excitedly.

01:20Well, I'm just about to make the batter now.

01:23Here's the flour, says Rupert, picking up a packet from the windowsill.

01:27Oh, deary me! I don't remember putting it out there, exclaims Mrs Bear.

01:32May I have a pancake as soon as you've made the batter?

01:35All right, chuckles Mrs Bear. I won't be long.

01:40The batter is soon ready, and Mrs Bear pours some into the pan.

01:45It's ready to toss now, she instructs Rupert.

01:50One, two, three, whee! Up goes the pancake into the air.

02:00Quick, catch it Rupert, cries Mrs Bear, before it falls down on the floor.

02:05But it doesn't come down. It goes up even more.

02:10Both stand and stare up at the dough, which suddenly begins to grow and grow.

02:17Get it down quick, gasps Mrs Bear, jumping up and grabbing one end.

02:22Rupert leaps up, but the giant pancake pulls both Mrs Bear and Rupert out through the open window.

02:29It grows bigger and bigger.

02:34Oh, dear! Oh, dear! Come on, Mummy! Climb on, quick, cries Rupert, scrambling up onto the giant pancake.

02:50I'll pull you on.

02:52There! Oh, dear me! Whatever next, gasps poor Mrs Bear.

02:58Holding on tight as the giant pancake floats over the common.

03:03I can see Bill and Edward. They'll help us. Rupert's relieved.

03:07Hey, you two, he shouts. Can you pull this pancake down?

03:11Edward leaps as high as he can and manages to catch hold of a bit.

03:16He clings on with all his strength, but the pancake continues to rise.

03:21Help! Help! Higher and higher.

03:25Hey, look over there, shouts Rupert, pointing excitedly ahead.

03:30Why, it looks like an enormous sponge cake, exclaims Mrs Bear.

03:36Well, whatever it is, it seems to be pulling the pancake towards it, says Edward.

03:46There's a slight bump, and the pancake slowly sways to a stop.

03:50Suddenly, a man, wearing a long apron and a chef's white hat, pops up in front of them.

03:56Good afternoon. Welcome to the land of sponge cake, he cries delightedly.

04:01It is most pleasant to have visitors, and I'm delighted to meet you, madam and young sirs.

04:06My name is Mr Sponge, he continues, as he helps Mrs Bear down from the pancake.

04:11But how did you get here?

04:13We were making a pancake, this one, Rupert explains, and it just swelled and swelled, and flew up in the air and brought us here.

04:21Well, well, well, and does this pancake need flour?

04:26Yes, and I remember now, I used the flour Rupert found on the windowsill, says Mrs Bear.

05:13Why, it's full of uncooked cakes.

05:17It must be some kind of storeroom, suggests Edward, following Rupert in.

05:23A bell rings.

05:25What's that? asks Rupert, startled.

05:29There's a creaking, groaning sort of noise.

05:33Hey, someone's closing the door, exclaims Rupert.

05:36Quick! Let us out, shouts Edward, banging on the door.

05:39Please let us out.

05:45Wizardy whizz, exclaims Rupert.

05:47This isn't a storeroom at all.

05:49It's, it's, it's an oven, and we're locked in.

05:53It's getting hot.

05:56There's a narrow slit up there, and I think I could just get through.

06:00I know. Let's pile the cakes up, and if you stand on them, and I stand on you, I might be able to reach.

06:09I wonder where Rupert and Edward have got to, says Mrs. Bear.

06:13Oh, I don't think they could have gone far, says Mr. Sponge.

06:17Now, I should like to know what you think of our tasting room.

06:22We export to all the supermarkets in the world, he explains proudly.

06:27The oven is really glowing now, and both Rupert and Edward are very hot indeed.

06:32Phew! I think that's hot enough, pants Rupert, as he places the last tin on the pile.

06:40Climb up, Edward.

06:43Edward climbs gingerly to the top, and Rupert follows and climbs onto Edward's shoulders.

06:49Do keep still, he begs.

06:59It's very difficult, puffs Edward.

07:04The little elephant saves himself just in time.

07:08I can just reach it, Rupert cries triumphantly, hauling himself up.

07:14I'll run round and let you out. Won't be long.

07:16And he disappears through the black slit.

07:21It's an extremely dirty and dishevelled little bear who reaches the front of the oven at last.

07:27But where's the handle? he exclaims, examining the door.

07:32Oh, wizardy whiz! It must work by remote control.

07:36So that's how we got locked in.

07:39He looks round desperately.

07:41Oh, I must be quick. Perhaps that's the control room.

07:44It isn't. It's the tasting room.

07:48And Mr. Sponge and Mrs. Bear are deep in a discussion about sponges.

07:54Mummy!

07:56Now don't interrupt, dear, says Mrs. Bear as Rupert rushes up.

08:00But, but, but, but, stutters Rupert.

08:03Mrs. Bear picks up another sponge.

08:05Now this.

08:07Mummy, please listen, shouts Rupert desperately.

08:11Edward is shut in an oven.

08:13Oh, goodness gracious, exclaims Mr. Sponge.

08:17Which one?

08:19He and Mrs. Bear follow Rupert back.

08:21Aha, number seven, he announces proudly as he turns a handle marked number seven.

08:26He'll be all right now.

08:32Edward is. Just. But he's extremely hot.

08:38Oh, I didn't enjoy that much, he complains.

08:42Oh, my cakes, my beautiful cakes, they've been stepped on, moans Mr. Sponge, catching sight of the squashed pyramid.

08:52Never mind, says Mrs. Bear briskly.

08:55We'll all help to make some more.

08:56There, says Mrs. Bear proudly, as Mr. Sponge reloads the oven once again.

09:07Oh, thank you, Mrs. Bear, says Mr. Sponge gratefully.

09:11That's all right, but it's getting late. We must get, um...

09:15Oh, but how are we going to go back, cries Mrs. Bear alarmed.

09:20Oh, that's simple.

09:21Welcome aboard, my travelling saucer cake, says Mr. Sponge cheerfully, helping Mrs. Bear up the gangplank.

09:35The giant sponge takes off and floats gently down, landing them all safely in Rupert's garden.

09:45Now, I should be pleased if you would join us for tea and pancakes, she continues.

09:53But this time, I shall use my own flour.

09:57The pancakes are a great success, and everyone has a toss.

10:02Mr. Sponge gets quite carried away, for he's never done it before.

10:06Oh, I'm so sorry, Mrs. Bear, he cries as it sticks to the ceiling.

10:13I prefer my pancakes on a plate myself.
