They're asking if you have one more to start pitcher for this week that we can break down.
00:05
Do you have one?
00:06
I do.
00:07
Could be dicey.
00:08
Uh, he pitches on a really good team, but he's pitching against the Dodgers for one
00:12
of the two starts.
00:13
So the second one's against Miami when I like, so maybe the Dodgers, you know, come down
00:19
a little bit.
00:20
It's possible.
00:21
Uh, Grant Holmes, uh, had a really good 2024 for the Atlanta Braves.
00:26
He also like Rasmussen qualifies at RP.
00:28
So if you have mandatory RP spots and you don't like your closer situation, well, Rasmussen
00:33
or Grant Holmes are two guys you could probably get in there.
00:36
But I do want to caution one of those starts is against the Dodgers.
00:39
So you got to protect yourself a little bit.
00:41
He struggled with walks a little bit in the spring, uh, but the strikeout rate is very
00:44
solid.
00:45
Obviously the Braves are a very solid offense.
00:47
So you could do worse than Grant Holmes if you're desperate for some pitching right now
00:50
off the waiver wire.
00:51
But, uh, you do have to understand that it's a little dicey whenever you're throwing any
00:55
pitcher up against that Los Angeles Dodgers team.
00:58
So that's one more guy you could throw to that list.
01:00
But I agree with you.
01:01
I think Povich is the one that's most intriguing, not so much because of the matchups, but because
01:04
of if he performs well in both of those matchups, that is a guy that next week, I guarantee
01:09
you is going to be one of the most added pitchers off the waiver wire.
01:12
And you could just get a jump on everything and save yourself some cash in order to add
01:17
someone.
01:18
You must drop someone.
01:19
A lot of times it's important to see who's the most dropped.
01:22
So let's take a look at a pitcher and a hitter that are most dropped.
01:27
And Joe, talk about where you're pulling these numbers from, and then we can dive into
01:30
the players.
01:31
Well, these numbers are from a CBS sports where you're going to find a lot more paid
01:36
leagues.
01:37
And that's where you want to find those numbers, because I think that's what matters.
01:40
Now these situations are all relative because some leagues you have very short benches or,
01:45
you know, limited IL spots, so you can't hold everybody.
01:47
Now you mentioned earlier the good news, quote unquote, about Jared Jones and that being
01:51
that he's got his brand UCL that this time they don't think he's going to have Tommy
01:54
John.
01:55
He's going to come back sometime mid season.
01:57
Color me on optimistic about this.
02:00
This is the same nonsense I heard last year where Garrett Cole wasn't going to have Tommy
02:03
John.
02:04
And guess what?
02:05
He's got Tommy John now.
02:06
Now he didn't end up pitching the rest of the season, so that was fair.
02:07
He did make it through.
02:08
So, okay, we can call that maybe a push.
02:10
Jacob DeGrom had a sprained UCL.
02:12
They said, oh, he wouldn't need a Tommy John surgery.
02:15
Guess what?
02:16
He did.
02:17
So I just, if you are really strapped, if you're in a situation where you have two IL
02:22
spots and you have the opportunity that you're holding somebody that you like, let's say
02:27
Ronald Acuna is one of them, right?
02:30
You can drop Jared Jones, in my opinion.
02:33
If you're in deeper leagues and you have the opportunity to trade him off this, I would
02:37
because somebody might bite on that news.
02:41
You can stash them on the IL, but I understand the limitations.
02:44
And for those leagues where you have those limitations, I'm still just very skeptical.
02:50
Maybe I'm being a pessimist, Matt.
02:52
Maybe you want to take the other side of this.
02:54
I love Jared Jones as a pitcher.
02:55
We were excited about him going into the season.
02:58
But once we got that news and the second opinion, and it took a very long time to get the second
03:02
opinion and all of that news out there-
03:04
To get the right second opinion.
03:05
Right.
03:06
Well, it just seemed very strange.
03:07
Like, this happened, and then it was crickets for like a week.
03:11
And then all of a sudden, then it was, oh, it's a sprained UCL, he's going to rest, he's
03:14
going to rehab, and they'll be fine.
03:16
Will he be fine?
03:17
Okay.
03:18
So here's the thing.
03:20
That's the movement that caused the sprained UCL.
03:22
If you continue to replicate that movement, you will eventually tear the UCL.
03:27
That's the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so.
03:29
And overall, if you want to keep him stashed for some type of hopeful reason, go right
03:35
ahead.
03:36
But I think pitching is just so bountiful that you can definitely find a way.
03:40
But I am a bit crestfallen, if you will, because I like Jared Jones, and what he means to Paul
03:43
Skeens as well.
03:44
All right, give me a hitter.
03:45
All right.
03:46
I'll give you a hell yeah, too, or maybe a snell yeah.
03:49
That's a baseball show.
03:50
I don't know.
03:51
Let's get to Evan Carter, who got sent down.
03:53
Well, look, Evan Carter, I told you, he's gonna struggle against left handed hitters
03:58
pitchers.
03:59
Excuse me.
04:00
I told you, two years ago, when he was going in the same ADP, actually, just last year,
04:05
Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter were back to back, I told you, it was fraudulent, that
04:08
Wyatt Langford is by far the better player, Evan Carter, you know, he'll bounce around,
04:13
I think he'll be back and forth between the major leagues and the minor leagues, maybe
04:16
he'll figure out some of the holes in the swing.
04:18
But this is a classic example of a guy getting hot in a postseason, and getting overrated
04:23
as a prospect.
04:24
And next thing you know, Evan Carter is not a productive fantasy player.
04:28
So in dynasty leagues, yeah, his stock is low right now.
04:32
But I would be moving on from him regardless, because this is the player that I told you
04:36
he was anyway, and I thought he would be and he is not anything close to Wyatt Langford.
04:40
So although they were ranked closely together last year, they are not anywhere close to
04:45
the same player.
