00:07not talking about guys, you have to do a 23rd round, right?

00:10Those returning that Ross, that part of the roster over and over again, anyway, but as

00:13far as one of your core players, great, when do you start to worry that, okay, it is not

00:18happening this year.

00:19I got to move on from this where I got to bench this guy, or I just have to, I can't

00:21deal with this player anymore.

00:22I mean, it's only April 5th, so I know it's not now.

00:25Are you somebody may Memorial Day, you know, when do you start to worry about core players?

00:30Uh, well, I mean, it depends on really like what you mean by core player.

00:37Like if you're talking like, say Bobby, what junior, then you're going down with the ship

00:41with him.

00:42You know, it's not like I wouldn't sell him low ever.

00:46I would basically just ride it out.

00:48And if it, you know, if it happens to be an off year for him, then you're getting an off

00:53year.

00:54But ultimately I'm sure at some point he's going to turn it on and you'll be fine.

00:57But if you're looking at a core player, like say Dylan Cruz, who was drafted around like

01:01120 overall in the $15 range in 12 team mixed league auctions, he's someone I'm really concerned

01:10about right now.

01:11He's got around a 44% strikeout rate.

01:14He's hitting Oh 45.

01:16He's done nothing.

01:18And then, and he's also hitting, I believe eighth in the nationals lineup, which is not

01:23a great lineup to begin with.

01:24So you have a guy who's hitting eighth in a bad lineup with no real power to speak of

01:30who's striking out over 40% of the time.

01:34You got to cut bait there really fast.

01:36I, you know, I would probably hold for another week, but then you got to start making some

01:40hard decisions.

01:41Even if you did draft him fairly high, not as high as, you know, Bobby Wood, as I mentioned,

01:47but still high enough where you got to like, you got to like look at and you got to like

01:51make some hard decisions where you're like, you know, Dylan Cruz just does not look like

01:55he's ready right now.

01:57It's still early.

01:58I would give him another week to see, and then, you know, look and see where he's at.

02:02But strikeout rates, you know, they stabilize pretty fast.

02:06So when a guy is striking out 40 plus percent of the time, it's like, uh, yeah, that's,

02:11that's really bad.

02:13The stolen base leader in major league baseball right now is O'Neal Cruz gray, which is a

02:18big story right now with the pirates because they're not playing well.

02:22Uh, the O'Connor falafel is actually stolen a bunch of bases too.

02:25It seems like they're very aggressive on the base paths, but they're getting thrown out

02:29a lot too.

02:30Like it's a very odd first week of baseball for Pittsburgh Cruz, you know, certainly hit

02:37a home run.

02:38I saw it in person against Miami.

02:40He's doesn't look like he can play center field though, gray and you know, you're getting

02:46shortstop eligibility.

02:47You're going to get outfield.

02:49I guess eligibility here, but, uh, you know, Cruz, what were the bases for a hundred and

02:53you know, plus deals, he may actually get there.

02:55I think that that's a possibility, but it's a weird team and it's a weird start for him

03:00in particular.

03:01Yeah.

03:02You know, I was watching one of the games, uh, that, uh, you, you mentioned and he would

03:09be in the outfield and like a, a ground ball, uh, was by the time it got to him and center

03:14field.

03:15It was like going, you know, like 10 miles per hour and he just bumbled it.

03:18It was like, what's going on.

03:19I don't know what's going on with him in the outfield.

03:22He does not look comfortable at all though.

03:25Um, but for our purposes, that doesn't really matter for steals.

03:28Yeah.

03:29I mean the pirates, it's almost like, uh, Derek Shelton said to them in the preseason,

03:34like, Hey guys, we're all going to run.

03:36I don't care.

03:37Let's just run.

03:38It doesn't matter.

03:39You know, the, uh, the other team that loves to do that is the, uh, aforementioned nationals.

03:46Like last year, Davey Martinez, they just ran all the time, whether it was good or not.

03:51Like you see a guy like Lane Thomas when he was on the nationals, he had like 20 plus

03:56steals.

03:57He got traded to the guardians and he just stopped running.

04:00But anyway, with O'Neal Cruz, he could, I mean, you know, uh, the ankle injury was,

04:06uh, in 2023.

04:08So he was coming off of that last year.

04:10He looked like he was real tentative on the base paths, you know, coming off of that injury

04:14that knocked him out for almost the entire season.

04:18And now this year he looks comfortable.

04:20He's running.

04:21I wish I had more shares.

04:23I think it's great for fantasy.

04:25You know, if he can hit, if he can put up 25, 30 homers and steal 50 plus bags, we're

04:32talking about a top 10 overall guy.

04:34Easy.

04:35Yeah.

04:36I'm liking what I'm seeing with O'Neal Cruz when it comes to the bat.
