00:00Hall of Fame trainer Suge McGehee is back at the Preakness for the first time since

00:062013 with a contender who seems to have a lot of upside potential.

00:11We spoke with McGehee about PErforM and his chances on Saturday.

00:15I like this weekend down here, I think it's a lot of fun, you know it's kind of sectional

00:21so you see a lot of people you don't see year round and there's a lot of enthusiasm as you

00:27can see this morning, it'll even be more tomorrow and Saturday and I'm glad to be here.

00:35His main races going short were okay, but then when I stretched him out it made a big

00:41difference around two turns, ran him at Tampa, I ran, Ortiz rode him and he got him to relax

00:48really well coming off the sprints and he finished really well so then I decided to

00:52bring him down here and run him in the Tezio, I thought it was the best option for him and

00:59the way he ran that day and finished up good and you know I listened to Fergal's interview

01:06and he said it's too bad this horse isn't nominated to the Preakness because he's that

01:09kind of horse, but I knew something he didn't know, so we thought we were okay that the

01:16people would supplement and so that's kind of what led us to get here, I mean you know

01:21he's had since then everything's been good with him, he had a very very good work here on last

01:28Sunday at Belmont and they kind of spurred me on, seems to be getting on the track really well you

01:37know and his gallops and you know we'll see what happens, see if he likes it on Saturday afternoon,

01:43it would mean a lot, you know it's really top of my list and you know as I've said I've said I've

01:51never won it and if he's standing in the stall I'm still never gonna win it so I'd have to wait

01:57a while so I'm very excited about the opportunity and if I could get all three of them that would

02:03mean a lot.
