Hi there. After yesterday's glorious sunshine, there is a change on the way through the next
00:04
few days. It's turning cloudier and it's also going to turn much colder for many of us.
00:09
That cold easterly breeze developing today bringing a lot of cloud across many parts
00:12
of England and Wales. There's already some showers across the south east of England and
00:16
those will spread their way westwards through the course of today. Falling is a mixture
00:19
of rain sleet and perhaps snow in places, particularly over the higher ground. Across
00:23
the north and the west though, particularly northern and western parts of Scotland, here
00:27
it will be another glorious day with lots and lots of sunshine, but there will be a
00:31
bit more on the way of cloud compared to Thursday across parts of Northern Ireland, for example.
00:36
Here in the sunshine it won't feel too bad for the time of year. Highs of six or seven
00:39
degrees and quite light winds, but elsewhere a much keener easterly breeze. So temperatures
00:45
of five or six on the thermometer, but when you factor in that strong easterly breeze,
00:49
it's going to feel more like minus one or minus two across many parts of England and
00:53
Wales and especially cold on that east coast. So as we go into tonight, there are not a
00:58
lot of changes really initially. A lot of cloud around across many parts of England
01:02
and Wales and eastern Scotland for much of the night. An ongoing chance of some wintry
01:07
showers or longer spells of rain sleet and snow across some central and southern areas
01:10
of the UK. So a few centimetres of snow is possible by the time we get to Saturday morning
01:16
across the higher ground, particularly parts of Wales. So if you do have travel plans first
01:20
thing on Saturday morning, stay in touch with the forecast. Further north and west
01:24
though, it should stay mostly dry across western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland as
01:28
well. Here the best of clear skies and another widespread frost to come tonight. So temperatures
01:33
minus five or minus six perhaps in some rural areas. But you will notice that it's not quite
01:38
as cold across many parts of England and Wales. Temperatures mostly one or two degrees above
01:42
freezing and it is temporarily at least through this weekend going to turn a little bit less
01:47
cold. An area of low pressure moving in from the south as we go into Saturday, bringing
01:51
those cloudier and slightly less cold conditions. But high pressure always very close by across
01:56
north and eastern parts of the UK, and that will allow that easterly breeze to bring back
02:01
colder conditions as we go towards Monday. This weather front perhaps brings some more
02:05
frequent wintry showers for some of us. But back to Saturday then, and it's a very cloudy
02:11
start to the day for many parts of England and Wales. Still the chance of some showery
02:15
outbreaks of rain, sleet and maybe hill snow too, but at lower levels at least, generally
02:19
falling as rain by this point. Staying quite cloudy and dull for much of the day here and
02:25
not quite as cold as it will be today because we would have lost that really strong easterly
02:29
breeze, but still cold nonetheless. Further north and west though, a bit less breezy and
02:34
once again it will be northwestern parts of Scotland that sees the best of the sunshine.
02:38
But again, fairly chilly. Temperatures a little bit below average for the time of year even
02:42
here. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel
02:46
if you'd like to find out more information about what the weather's going to be doing
02:49
this weekend and also next week. But that's everything from me, I'll see you again very
02:53
soon.
