Storm Darragh is arriving into western parts of the UK this evening, bringing some very strong winds, with severe disruption likely in western exposed coastal areas. Some heavy downpours will also be associated with this storm system as it moves east over the country. Temperatures will be near the average, but it will feel colder amidst the strong wind chill. Rain will affect the majority of the country overnight and into tomorrow. A red warning for wind is out for southwest England and Wales. An amber warning for wind is in effect for Wales, southwest England, northwest England, and Northern Ireland, and an amber warning for rain is also out for Wales. A yellow wind warning is out for southern Scotland and the rest of England, while a yellow rain warning is also out for southern Scotland. 00:00Hello there, good evening. Storm Darragh is set to bring a very unsettled weekend

00:05with heavy outbreaks of rain, some snow across hills in Scotland and some very

00:09strong winds. There are multiple Met Office warnings issued including

00:14yellow and amber warnings and a red wind warning issued for western parts of

00:19Wales and parts of southwest England too, so do stay up to date on our website for

00:23those. Starting off then by taking a look at the bigger picture then, here's Storm

00:27Darragh just to the northwest of the country. It's going to drag in some

00:31frontal systems bringing heavy outbreaks of rain, snow at times across parts of

00:36Scotland and take a look at the squeeze in the Isle of Bars too, so some very

00:39strong and gusty winds across a large portion of the country, particularly in

00:43the west as we head into the overnight period. So heavy outbreaks of rain that's

00:47continuing to fall as snow over high ground in Scotland and very blustery

00:52winds across the country, particularly in western areas where we do have those

00:55amber and red warnings issued. So some gales if not severe gales at times as we

01:01head into the overnight period and I do just want to draw your attention to

01:05Northern Ireland where actually for a time overnight those winds are going to

01:08fall very light and then as soon as that system starts to cross its way

01:12eastwards from Northern Ireland those winds are going to

01:15strengthen quite dramatically. So this is where we're going to start to see the

01:19gales, the severe gales. We could see wind gust speeds of between 70 to 80 miles per

01:24hour, perhaps up to 90 miles per hour where we do have that red warning issued.

01:28So it is going to be a very blustery night and taking a look at the

01:31temperatures too, we could see lows of around 2 to 3 Celsius but in those

01:35brisk winds that's really going to add on to the wind chill too, so it's actually

01:38going to feel much chillier in reality. Then through into Saturday still

01:43multiple Met Office warnings enforced. We'll continue to see those outbreaks of

01:48rain as that low continues to swirl around the country. Still heavy at times

01:52and still falling a snow across hills in Scotland as well and it's still going

01:56to be a very blustery day, those strong winds continuing through much of the day

02:00and still the amber warning enforced for wind and also for rain for parts of the

02:04country as well. And taking a look at temperatures as well across parts of the

02:09south, highs of around 8 to 9 Celsius but once again in those very brisk winds

02:14it's actually going to feel much chillier in reality when you add on that

02:17wind chill. So a very unsettled day and feeling very chilly in those blustery

02:22winds alongside those outbreaks of rain as well. Then through into the evening we

02:28will continue to see further outbreaks of rain becoming more confined to

02:31eastern areas, more likely to see some clear spells across Northern Ireland,

02:35parts of Scotland too, but even here still a few showers moving through and

02:39still falling a snow across high ground too. So perhaps some more drier weather

02:43on the cards but still plenty of rain across the east and southeast and once

02:48again it is going to be a rather chilly night on offer particularly in parts of

02:52the north. Then through for the second half of the weekend we're likely to see

02:57things calm down slightly but we are still going to have outbreaks of rain

03:00continuing across the east and southeastern parts of England. This still

03:04could be heavy at times too. A few showers starting to feed in as well

03:08across eastern coast of Scotland and England. Once again still a chance these

03:12could fall as snow across higher ground. The best of the brightness likely across

03:17Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland. It is going to be largely dry

03:20across Wales and parts of the southwest too but those strong winds are set to

03:24continue. So it's going to be another blustery day but winds not quite as

03:27strong as they're likely to be Friday night into Saturday and temperatures

03:32once again highs of around 9 Celsius but still in those brisk winds once again

03:37adding to the wind chill there. So another another blustery and chilly day

03:41on offer for the second half of the weekend. So Storm Dara is set to bring

03:45very strong winds, heavy rain likely to cause some disruption as we head into

03:50into the weekend and there are multiple Met Office warnings in force. So do stay
