A wet start to the day across much of the country, with a frontal system also bringing some strong winds, especially to northwest areas where coastal gales can be expected. Temperatures milder in the south, average for the time of year further north but feeling chilly in the wind. The strong winds with heavy downpours will continue across much of the country, with some hill snow possible in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England on Saturday evening.
