Dry for most this evening, with some southerly winds bringing mild conditions. It will be cloudy especially in northern areas, while in the south Wednesday night should be clear for many. Some gusty winds are expected in the northwest, and a band of rain will begin to push into the Western Isles in the early hours of Thursday. A mild and windy start to the day expected tomorrow, especially in the north. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 23/10/24. 00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.

00:04Through the next 24 hours we have a strong southerly wind delivering

00:08mild conditions across most of the UK.

00:12So, windy already through Wednesday evening across the north-west

00:16with weather fronts close by. But notice these isobars here

00:20a little closer together through Thursday, bringing in that warmth from the south.

00:24So if you catch some sunshine, temperatures in the south could reach 18 degrees Celsius

00:2815 degrees towards the north, and these fronts gradually make inroads

00:32as we head through to Friday. For the time being, you see where the strongest

00:36winds are, Irish sea coast, North Channel, western coast as well.

00:40Now further south, some starry skies, and because the wind is picking up a little bit

00:44we won't have the visibility problems we've seen through the last few nights, certainly

00:48with low cloud and fog. At the same time though, this cloud could be thick enough

00:52across Scotland for a little bit of patchy rain, as this main

00:56band just nudges close by towards the western

01:00isles as we head into Thursday morning. Now under clear skies towards the south

01:04temperatures 8 or 9 degrees Celsius, but notice across Scotland and Northern Ireland

01:08holding around 12 or 13, so it's a very mild start

01:12to the day come Thursday morning, but it's also a windy one and also

01:16rather cloudy. We'll see some sunshine across England and Wales as the cloud breaks

01:20and just drifts across the sky. And in shelter across the north and east of

01:24Scotland, Northern Ireland as well, seeing some brighter skies through the morning into the afternoon.

01:28So it's a lovely day to be out and about, but watch out for that wind,

01:32always strong, particularly through the morning, we may lose the sting in the wind through the afternoon

01:36as this cloud and rain just encroaches across the western

01:40isles and we could see some just moving in across counties Tyrone

01:44as well as Fermanagh. Elsewhere it's a dry end to the day

01:48as temperatures arrive around 15 towards western Scotland,

01:5216 for Wales, 18 for the south-east of England, 15 or 16

01:56for Northern Ireland. So that's the picture through tomorrow afternoon.

02:00Through tomorrow evening and overnight we hang on to the breeze, so

02:04temperatures still on the mild side, but notice this cloud and rain

02:08gradually pushing across mainland Scotland, covering Northern Ireland, north-west

02:12England as well as the Midlands, seeing some into Friday morning.

02:16And this band of rain here, even though it's fairly narrow towards the south, we could

02:20actually see some more intense bursts as we head through the first part of the day.

02:24And it slowly pushes ever eastwards, turning showery towards

02:28the south-west. So most places seeing some wet weather on Friday

02:32as temperatures arrive around 13 to 16 Celsius, so lower than

02:36Thursday. Now come Saturday, another band of cloud and rain moves in

02:40from the north-west. We hang on to some brighter and drier skies further south

02:44as well as east, and the winds again will be a feature towards more northern and

02:48western areas where that rain could be quite persistent. Showers ahead

02:52of it across the north of England as well as Wales, and some

02:56brighter skies further south and south-east. Temperatures here 14 or 15

03:00degrees Celsius. I'll see you later.
