Hello. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Dry and cloudy sums up
00:05
the weather, not just through Monday night and Tuesday, but indeed for most of the rest
00:09
of this week. It's not completely dry. That cloud is thick enough for a little drizzle
00:13
here and there, particularly around some coast and hills across parts of Scotland. But for
00:17
most, I say, we'll just keep a blanket of cloud, which will help to keep the temperatures
00:21
up. Now, we have seen some breaks in the cloud across the southeast where they persist. It
00:25
could turn a little foggy as we go through the night. And with some clearer skies, we
00:28
could see those temperatures dipping down to four or five degrees, maybe a little lower
00:33
across parts of Scotland. But as you can see, most towns and cities staying up at eight
00:38
or nine Celsius. So quite a mild start to Tuesday, a pretty drab start to Tuesday. Still
00:43
some light rain and drizzle here and there over the hills, over the Pennines, perhaps
00:47
the east coast of Scotland. And through the day, we could see that cloud thickening further
00:50
west to provide a little bit of drizzle, particularly again over high ground and around coast parts
00:55
of Pembrokeshire and maybe come the afternoon into the east of Northern Ireland, a few spots
00:59
of drizzle. But the vast majority will stay dry. Most will also stay pretty cloudy, but
01:05
it should get a little brighter through the day. Some breaks in the cloud across the southeast
01:09
and especially northern Scotland could do all right for sunshine here come the afternoon.
01:13
If we see any fog across the southeast, that could take quite a while to clear and that
01:17
will suppress the temperatures. But where we see a bit of sunshine poking through North
01:21
Wales, northern Scotland, 14, 15 degrees is possible. For most, though, it's just going
01:26
to stay cloudy, which means temperatures will be close to the average 11 or 12 degrees Celsius.
01:31
Now, Tuesday evening, if you're heading out to see some fireworks, well, good news is
01:37
that most places will be dry. We'll keep a lot of cloud, which will also help to keep
01:41
the temperatures up. So not especially cold either. Again, some light rain and drizzle
01:45
is possible here and there. And the breeze will be picking up in the far northwest. I
01:49
will like to see a little bit more in the way of showery rain drifting in here as we
01:53
go through the early hours of Wednesday morning. But for most, again, we'll keep a lot of cloud
01:58
and that'll keep those temperatures up. And that's how we're looking for Wednesday. Some
02:02
patchy rain maybe across the Western Isles early on. That should scoot away. Again, some
02:07
light rain and drizzle here and there around coast and hills, particularly in the west.
02:10
But most will be dry and cloudy, maybe a bit more fog around on Wednesday mornings. Often
02:15
the case after the bonfires of the 5th of November, the 6th of November morning is often
02:22
fairly murky. So there could be some more mist and fog around. But once that's cleared
02:27
away, temperatures in the afternoon with a bit of brightness again climbing into the
02:31
teens where it stays cloudy, 12 or 13 at the top temperature. Not a great deal of change
02:36
through the rest of this week. High pressure continues to dominate. Sitting to the east,
02:41
weather fronts trying to push in from the west and maybe making a bit more progress.
02:45
The ice is about squidging together as well. So the winds will be picking up in western
02:48
areas and this weather front may bring a little bit of rain into parts of the west come Friday.
02:54
But for much of the country, most of the week stays dry and cloudy. You can see our full
02:59
