00:00Morning. Welcome to a very mild weekend. Don't expect huge amounts of sunshine,

00:05quite cloudy across the UK today, but by this afternoon temperatures up widely to

00:1012 to 13, 14 degrees Celsius and where we do see a bit of sunshine, well

00:14temperatures could be a degree or so higher. Why so mild? Well, look at where

00:18the winds are coming from. Up from the south, wafting up that milder air. The

00:22wind's still quite gusty in places, particularly around western coasts and

00:26will strengthen further tonight across the northwest of Scotland. But back to

00:30the rest of Saturday and, as I said, a lot of cloud around. With the winds coming up

00:33from the south, it's to the north and east of hills where we'll see some

00:37breaks in the clouds in parts of northeast Wales. Northwest England may

00:40see some sunshine. To the east of the Pennines we should see a bit of blue sky

00:43at times and also northeastern parts of Scotland. It may well brighten up at

00:47times across the south, but generally expect cloudy skies. Not a huge amount of

00:52rain either. A few showers here and there, particularly where we've got the

00:54thickest cloud across the west and we'll see some showery rain at times

00:57crossing Scotland. It will still be quite breezy, but as we go through the night

01:02those winds are going to strengthen further. You can see the swirl here.

01:05That's an area of low pressure getting very blustery once more across the

01:08western isles of Scotland, generally along the west coast. The zones of rain

01:12will move in as we go through the night as well. With all that cloud around, the

01:15mild air in place, temperatures are not going to drop very far. Double digits as

01:21we start Sunday, which is of course the start of meteorological winter.

01:25Temperatures are more akin to a spring day though, however. So yes, a mild start,

01:30but it will be a wet start. Outbreaks of rain crossing Wales, western England,

01:33southern Scotland. That'll tend to fizzle out as it works its way eastwards, so no

01:37more than a few showers across eastern parts of England. Then something brighter

01:41before another band of showery rain coming in also. So yeah, a bit more rain

01:45around tomorrow compared to today, but again it's unlikely to rain all day and

01:50we'll see some brighter spells coming through. Still got the winds mostly

01:54bringing that warmer air up, perhaps temperatures a degree or so down, but

01:57with a bit of brightness we'll still likely see those temperatures climbing

02:00into the teens. So still very mild for the first day of December. Notice however

02:05the winds just starting to come down from the north across the far north and

02:09that is a sign of a change. This rain across the southeast on Sunday evening

02:14from a weather front that is going to continue to drift away, but low pressure

02:18heading up towards the far northeast and behind that the winds are coming

02:24down from the north. That's where the cold air is and that will push its way

02:27southwards as we go through Sunday night and into Monday. So after a very mild

02:31weekend the colder air will return. It could be a bit of an icy start on Monday

02:36morning across parts of northern Scotland. So do keep up to date with the
