00:00Morning. Did you get woken up by the wet and windy weather last night?

00:03Well, there is plenty more to come over the next few days.

00:07Low-pressure systems are dominating.

00:09This one at the moment is heading its way up towards Iceland.

00:12These weather fronts have been draped across the country through the night,

00:15and the rain is now clearing away out into the North Sea.

00:18A soggy start for East Anglia in the southeast,

00:21but that rain will be scooting away fairly smartly.

00:24A few showers following on behind,

00:26but many places having a dry morning.

00:29In the west, though, more heavy showers will pack into Northern Ireland.

00:32And by lunchtime, they'll be into western Scotland,

00:34northwest England and much of Wales.

00:36So turning quite wet and also turning increasingly blustery.

00:41A gusty afternoon to come, particularly in western areas.

00:45But it is also going to be a lot milder than it has been,

00:48particularly in the south.

00:49Temperatures getting up into the teens in some locations,

00:51but obviously feeling cooler when you add on that wind.

00:55Although much of East Anglia in the southeast will have a dry afternoon,

00:58the rain will work in here as we go through the latter stage of the afternoon

01:02into the evening and then the bands of rain continue to sweep across the country.

01:06We have a yellow warning in place for the gusty winds,

01:09southwest Scotland, Northern Ireland and gusty winds for north Wales,

01:12parts of northern England, even into the Midlands and East Anglia.

01:15Gusts of 40, 50 miles an hour, perhaps around some coast,

01:1860 to even 70 miles an hour could cause a little disruption.

01:21So a blustery, gusty old night.

01:24The wind is starting to ease further south as we head through the early hours.

01:28That will allow the temperatures to dip down to single digits,

01:31but certainly most urban areas start at about five or six above freezing on Friday.

01:36For many of us, again, it will be a fine start to the day as well.

01:40Some good spars of sunshine around.

01:42A few showers drifting into northwest England, southwest Scotland,

01:45keep some going over northern Scotland,

01:46but then more wet weather sweeps into northern Ireland by tomorrow lunchtime.

01:51That cloud then increasing out west with further outbreaks of rain

01:54chugging into Wales, southwest England and western parts of Scotland

01:58by the end of the afternoon.

02:00Much of eastern England, eastern Scotland staying dry,

02:02but the sunshine turning increasingly hazy will again be reasonably mild,

02:07but temperatures generally lower than they have been through the day today.

02:12So a cooler feel certainly across the south, nine or ten,

02:15the top temperature further north, six or seven at best.

02:18Now, you can see this large area of rain that is an intensifying area of low pressure

02:23that is going to bring a wet and windy spell across the country

02:26during Friday night and Saturday.

02:28Still a bit of uncertainty about the exact track of this low,

02:31but it has the potential to cause some issues.

02:34Notice the ice bars close together.

02:36That means it's going to be windy, but that low will also be bringing more rain

02:39after what has been a pretty wet couple of days.

02:42If we zoom backwards, we can track this low pressure.

02:45It doesn't look much at time of recording,

02:47but its interaction with the jet stream is crucial

02:50and how quickly it transitions to the cold side of the jet

02:54and how quickly it intensifies and exactly where the jet steers it.

02:58It could be a little further south than this, could be a little further north,

03:02but we'll firm upon the details over the next day or so.

03:05But for Friday night and into Saturday, something to keep a very close eye on,

03:08wind and rain likely to cause some further disruption.
