00:00
severe tropical storm Marseille as of 5 a.m.
00:03
the bulletin.
00:04
So, based upon our latest bulletin, the center of this storm, Marseille, is located in Karagatan
00:10
or Silangan, Karagatan of our country.
00:13
As of 4 a.m., its location is located at 735 kilometers, Silangan, of Baler, Aurora.
00:19
And it has strong winds that reach up to 110 kilometers per hour,
00:25
with strong winds that reach up to 135 kilometers per hour.
00:29
And it moves fast in the direction of Hilagang, Kanluran or northwestward at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.
00:38
If we can see here in our latest satellite image,
00:41
the clouds that this Marseille storm brings are mostly concentrated or closer to the center of this storm.
00:47
But because we expect that this Marseille storm will continue to approach our land,
00:54
it is possible that it will be rainy season, especially in the areas of Bicol Region,
00:59
in Quezon, as well as in Cagayan Valley, Apayao and Calinga today.
01:03
And we also expect that it will be possible that it will be rainy season
01:07
because we can see that the center of this storm is close to the area of Northern Luzon,
01:12
possible by today or the next 36 hours.
01:15
So, we will know later which specific areas are possible to experience
01:21
the strong rainfall of this Marseille storm.
01:25
Let us now look at what is included in our latest forecast track as of 5 a.m.
01:31
We can see the central track of the storm or the possible movement of this Marseille storm in the next few days.
01:38
There is also the forecast intensity or the possible category of this storm
01:43
or the possible strength of this storm as the area inside our PAR continues to move.
01:50
There is also the area shaded by white, that is the forecast probability cone
01:55
or those are the possible areas that this Marseille storm may pass in the next few days.
02:01
And the area shaded by yellow, that is the radius of the storm,
02:06
that is where the strong wind brought by this Marseille storm is located.
02:10
If we look at our latest forecast track or forecast intensity,
02:15
the Marseille storm may become stronger today and reach the typhoon category
02:20
until it leaves our Philippine area of responsibility.
02:24
And according to our latest forecast track, we can see in the central track,
02:28
there is a possible landfall scenario in the area of Babuyan Islands
02:33
and also in the northern or if not in Babuyan Islands, in the northern part of the mainland of Gagayan.
02:39
But because we can see that the area of Northern Luzon is still within our forecast probability cone,
02:47
the track of this Marseille storm may go down
02:51
and also the landfall scenario in the area of Gagayan and also in Isabela.
02:57
So let's just monitor the use of this storm in the next few days.
03:03
Possible exit of the storm is on Friday or Saturday morning.
03:10
And if we can see here in our latest forecast track,
03:13
it will move generally north-westward in the next 24 hours
03:19
and it will slowly slow down starting tomorrow,
03:23
especially here in the coastal areas of Northern Luzon.
03:27
So we saw the satellite image earlier.
03:29
We have rain bands around the center of the storm.
03:33
So let's hope that starting tomorrow until Friday,
03:37
it will be possible to experience rain, especially in the areas closest to the center of this storm,
03:43
especially in the areas of Northern Luzon.
03:46
So let's prepare for that because it will also be possible to experience rain for a few days.
03:51
And according to our forecast track, the radius of this storm is a bit wide.
03:57
So it will slowly get closer to our Philippine landmass
04:01
and some parts of Northern Luzon will be submerged here in the radius of the storm.
04:05
And because it is also wide, while it is close to the land of Northern Luzon,
04:12
we can also experience a tropical cyclone wind signal
04:15
or it will also be affected by strong winds in the area of Central Luzon.
04:19
So for now, over the next 36 hours,
04:22
we will be able to experience strong winds in the area of Northern Luzon.
04:26
And the highest tropical cyclone wind signal that we will be able to experience in the next few days is signal number 4.
04:33
For now, the highest is 5 AM in the coastal areas of Batanes,
04:38
along with Babuyan Islands,
04:41
and also in the eastern portion of Isabela,
04:43
northern portion of Apayao,
04:45
and northern portion of Ilocos Norte,
04:47
the area that is highlighted or shaded by light blue
04:50
that is highlighted by tropical cyclone wind signal number 1.
04:54
So for the next 36 hours,
04:56
we expect that in the mentioned areas,
04:59
we will be able to experience strong winds brought by Hurricane Marseille.
05:08
When it comes to rainfall,
05:09
we can see that the strong rainfall brought by Hurricane Marseille
05:13
is mostly concentrated near the center of the storm.
05:17
So for the next few days,
05:18
we expect that the strong rainfall will be felt in the area of Northern Luzon.
05:24
As early as today,
05:26
the possible total 24-hour accumulated rainfall that will be experienced today in Cagayan
05:32
can range from 50 to 100 millimeters,
05:35
so those are moderate to heavy rainfall.
05:38
And starting tomorrow,
05:40
the rainfall in Cagayan will gradually increase again.
05:44
The rainfall or heavy to intense rainfall can reach 200 millimeters.
05:51
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy or 50 to 100 millimeters
05:54
when it comes to Batanes and Apayao.
05:58
When it comes to Thursday,
05:59
because we saw in our latest tropical cyclone
06:03
or our forecast track
06:05
that the center of Hurricane Marseille will be near Northern Luzon,
06:10
you will be able to experience the intense to torrential rainfall
06:14
or more than 200 millimeters of total rainfall in the area of Cagayan.
06:19
Heavy to intense in Apayao, Ilocos Norte, and Batanes.
06:23
And moderate to heavy in Isabela, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Calinga, and Mountain Province.
06:29
So in the areas that we mentioned,
06:31
especially in the area of Cagayan,
06:32
the strong rainfall continued for a few days.
06:36
Possible flooding or landslides.
06:39
That's why our countrymen are prepared and careful.
06:44
When it comes to strong winds,
06:47
besides the areas where the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is located,
06:52
it is also possible that the winds will blow in some parts of Luzon.
06:56
So today, it is possible in Ilocos Sur, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte.
07:02
Tomorrow, you will also experience the windy weather in Ilocos Region,
07:07
Quezon, Camarines Province, and Catanduanes.
07:11
And when it comes to Thursday, you will still experience that in the area of Ilocos Region.
07:17
In the condition of our ocean,
07:19
as of 5 p.m., we have raised the gale warning in the coastal areas of Batanes, Cagayan,
07:26
along with the Babuyan Islands, as well as in the coastal areas of Isabela.
07:30
So the waves there are possible to reach up to 5 meters high,
07:34
so it is dangerous to cross, especially for our countrymen who have small ocean vehicles.
07:39
We also expect moderate to rough seas here in the coastal areas of Luzon.
07:47
And that's all, Polites, from the Weather Forecasting Center.
07:50
I am Rhea Torres.
07:51
Let's continue to be careful.
07:53
Good morning and thank you very much.
