acting, you're going to make your debut in the White Lotus next year.
00:05
Has Jenny or any of your friends, anybody in the industry
00:08
given you any acting tips?
00:10
Yeah, I actually like asked them, like, oh, like, how do you memorize
00:15
all the lines?
00:19
We are here at the Odyssey Soundspace at the Hard Rock Hotel, New York,
00:22
for our check in with Lisa.
00:25
I'm so happy you're here.
00:27
Congratulations on everything.
00:29
I love your song, Moonlit Floor.
00:31
I love the the song, the video, all of it.
00:35
Were you familiar with the song you sampled, Kiss Me, before you sampled it?
00:40
Yeah. Like, actually, I remember like when I was young,
00:44
like, I don't know, like five or six.
00:46
Like my dad always played that on in a car.
00:50
So I kind of familiar with that song.
00:52
That's crazy.
00:53
So it was like a full circle moment when you got to sample it.
00:56
Yeah, so I was so happy.
00:58
Like as soon as I heard the song, I was like, oh, it's that song.
01:04
It's beautiful.
01:05
And you really made it your own.
01:06
And the music video is lovely.
01:08
You got to work with so many amazing people on this project.
01:14
Ryan Tedder, Max, Rosalia.
01:18
The list goes on and on.
01:19
Did you have like a wish list of people you wanted to work with on this?
01:22
Oh, wish list. A lot.
01:26
Actually, a lot.
01:27
But for now that I can think of is Doja Cat.
01:31
OK, I love her.
01:34
But it sounds like you got a lot of the people you wanted on this project, right?
01:39
Yes. But yeah, Doja Cat for sure is my next goal.
01:44
Yeah, yeah. That's awesome.
01:46
Is there anything, any specific thing you learned from any of these people
01:50
you worked with, like one thing that stands out,
01:53
you know, a piece of advice or something that you feel like
01:57
you're going to carry with you forever now?
01:59
Hmm. Actually, I when I did a music video with Rosalia,
02:05
like I think I learned something from her.
02:08
Like she she's amazing.
02:11
She's a professional.
02:13
Like every single take that like action, she's just like
02:17
doing her thing.
02:18
And I mean, like, I don't even I can't even do that.
02:22
So I learned that, you know, like the confidence and, you know, identity,
02:27
like she just, you know, maintain her identity, you know,
02:30
like with her music, with her art and everything.
02:33
So, yeah, I wanted to be someone like her that, you know, can maintain my identity.
02:38
I love that. I love that.
02:39
I know dancing has been such a big part of your career and your life.
02:45
Can you remember as a little girl, like the first routine
02:50
you ever memorized, maybe from just watching music videos or something?
02:57
I don't really remember because I start to dance when I was like super little.
03:01
I was like four or five.
03:06
But I remember my first day at the dance school.
03:10
OK, yeah. Like my mom have me wear like a skirt
03:16
and I just went in and there's like tell me to like kick
03:20
and everything else like I'm in the miniskirt.
03:25
Was it feel was it something that you felt like you you took to naturally,
03:30
like you were naturally good at it?
03:31
Or did you have to like really work hard and bust your butt?
03:35
I really work hard on dancing because I think I love it.
03:40
I have passion. You know, I want to be good.
03:43
Yeah. And I improved a lot when I moved to Korea, when they, you know,
03:49
give me like an intense dance.
03:51
Sure. Lessons.
03:54
If if you are doing these like
03:58
dance routines and and all the training you went through and stuff like that,
04:02
is there anything any like
04:06
unique training that you went through
04:09
when it comes to touring and stuff like that and dancing?
04:12
Was was any of the training something maybe your fans are unaware of?
04:17
Hmm. Unaware of.
04:20
I just keep repeating it.
04:22
Yeah. Until I until my body memorize it.
04:27
OK, so when I go on stage, I don't have to use my brain much to like,
04:31
OK, I have to do this on one or like, you know,
04:34
it's just have to be like a body memorize.
04:37
Gotcha. Yeah. So I just keep repeat until I just I just got it.
04:42
Awesome. Yeah. So something I think is really cool.
04:44
You have your rights for this solo music, which is just huge.
04:49
I mean, how important was that to you as an artist?
04:54
I think I'm just so lucky, you know, to to have had to have that on my own.
05:01
So I'm just so thankful.
05:03
It's got to feel empowering for sure. Right?
05:06
Yes. I'm so lucky.
05:08
That's awesome.
05:09
And another area in your career where you're really excelling is acting.
05:14
You're going to make your debut in the White Lotus next year.
05:19
Has Jenny or any of your friends, anybody in the industry
05:22
given you any acting tips?
05:24
Yeah, I actually like asked them, like, oh, like,
05:27
how do you memorize the all the lines?
05:30
And they're like, you know, you just you just memorize it.
05:33
That's that's not good advice.
05:35
No, but I mean, like, it's it that's all, you know, you just have to memorize it.
05:40
Gosh. And you had classes and stuff like that as well.
05:43
Yes, yes. I took some classes, of course.
05:46
Yeah. Gotcha. But it was hard.
05:48
I bet. Yeah. We wrap up.
05:50
One of our big initiatives is I'm listening.
05:54
It increases mental health awareness.
05:57
And obviously, music is a huge part of your life.
06:00
So I wanted to ask you, do you have artists like give me a few artists
06:05
that you listen to and they immediately lift your mood
06:09
and put you in a happy place? Who's your go to?
06:11
Oh, there's so many.
06:16
Post Malone. OK.
06:18
Like Sunflower. Yeah.
06:19
It's really lifts my my moods up. Yeah. Yeah.
06:23
You know, maybe Taylor Swift. Sure.
06:25
It's like shake it off, you know, like
06:28
it's being my bathroom and my shower is like, you know, I love it.
06:32
Yeah. Awesome. Lisa, thank you so much.
06:34
Congratulations on everything. You are killing it.
06:37
Thank you so much.
