Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Storm Ashley continues
00:05
to bring some heavy rain and strong winds to much of the UK today, with the band of
00:09
rain that we can see out there at the moment pushing its way eastwards quite quickly this
00:12
morning due to those brisk southwesterly winds. Irish sea coastal regions could see gusts
00:17
of 50-60mph through much of the day, but western parts of Scotland will see those winds increasing,
00:23
particularly during the afternoon. We could see gusts here of 70-80mph. As that band of
00:28
rain pushes its way eastwards, it will turn a little drier with some sunny spells across
00:31
much of England and Wales, but another area of rain then arrives across Northern Ireland
00:35
and western parts of Scotland through the afternoon. Temperatures on Sunday will be
00:39
pretty similar to what we saw on Saturday, 17 or 18 degrees in the south, 14 or 15 further
00:45
north, so well above average for the time of year, but with those strong southwesterly
00:49
winds definitely feeling a little cooler than it did yesterday. Through the rest of Sunday
00:54
evening, remaining very windy across much of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Irish sea
00:58
coastal regions, continuing to see those gusts of 50-60mph. The next area of rain arrives
01:03
across parts of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, turning particularly heavy across
01:07
the high ground of Scotland and turning more showery as it pushes its way eastwards during
01:11
the early hours of Monday. The winds gradually easing into the start of Monday, but still
01:15
remaining quite blustery, particularly for the northern half of Scotland, and turning
01:18
a little cloudier through the early hours for much of England and Wales as well. Some
01:22
outbreaks of rain across the very far south coast. With all that cloud and those strong
01:27
winds, temperatures still holding up well into the double figures for much of the UK
01:30
into the start of Monday. We could see 12 or 13 degrees in the south and 10 or 11 further
01:35
north, perhaps a little cooler across the very far northwest though. For many of us,
01:40
that does mean quite a blustery, cloudy and damp start to the day on Monday morning, turning
01:44
a little drier from the west as we go through the morning period. Northern parts of England,
01:48
Wales, southwest England, turning a little drier with some sunny spells in towards the
01:52
afternoon, but still remaining quite cloudy across the very far southeast. This next area
01:56
of rain just skirting the southeast coast, bringing some heavy downpours at times and
02:01
still remaining very showery for much of Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. And temperatures
02:05
will be a little closer to average for the time of year, maybe 12 or 13 further north
02:09
and 15 or 16 further south. But with some lighter winds and a bit more sunshine around,
02:13
maybe feeling a little more pleasant than it did on Sunday. It is still going to remain
02:18
unsettled through into the middle part of next week, so do make sure you subscribe to
02:22
our YouTube channel so you never miss a weather update. Bye bye.
